Neither his dad or I have owned a dog before, however we want it to be his dog as much as possible. He is 4, what kind of things can we get him to do to feel responsibility for the animal? TIA

Not to mention its a Staffordshire Terrier. This is a high energy dog that you literally have to wear down before it stops. Perfect dog for a 4 year old. Give your son tranquilizers to put in his dog food, that seems like a fitting responsibility. You my friend, are an idiot.

Actually more of a miniature pit bull.

A Manchester Terrier is really just a toy pit bull - or perhaps Doberman (I had a Manchester/Chihuahua cross as a kid - baddest 12 pound dog you ever saw - a female at that - chased a Doberman down the street until she got tired - Dobermans are wicked fast.)

I don't believe pitbulls are inherently bad dogs. The issue is that if they do bite, they cause MAJOR damage. The decision to have this type of dog around a 4 year old (much less give this type of dog to a 4 year old) is completely fricking stupid.

Yes, a chihuahua may bite him as well. He'll have a bite mark, not a fricking missing face, dumbasses.

ETA: Why can they not have children taken out of a home for idiotic decisions such as this?

Please tell me you didn't pay for the pit bull, considering there are 10 puppies at any rescue center.

I had a friend with a Doberman. Her name was Jody (the dog, not the friend). That thing beat me down every time I went to his house. Not my favorite breed.
