Clippers welcome Rochelle Sterling
Mike/Mike is now bringing up her role in all of the super racist housing discrimination. LAT article on it LINK
they brought up this article and her racist issues, making the argument that she is just as guilty, blah blah blah
if the media wants to go down this road, it should not be easy on them. if they want to bring up a 2009 lawsuit, then where the frick were their high horses...when these lawsuits occurred? i'm waiting to see just how convoluted and crazy they can twist their own incompetence in this whole issue, while feigning fake outrage
quote:
Rochelle Sterling, the estranged wife of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, attended the Clippers' 113-103 win over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night after asking Doc Rivers whether he would be fine with her attending.
quote:
"It's a tough one for Shelly, really," Rivers said. "She didn't do anything wrong. You have compassion for her. I kept hearing about the girlfriend, and Shelly's the wife. You know what I mean? I talked to her today, and she's been through as much as anyone as well. She asked if she could come, which I thought was a very nice gesture, and she just wanted the players to know that she loved them and she told me to tell them. I thought why not?"

quote:
In a 2009 deposition, a tenant at one of the Sterling’s apartment buildings in Los Angeles County said that Rochelle Sterling called him a “black m—f—” during a discussion at the building.
“I asked her again, I asked her, ‘would you reduce the rent?’” Darrell Rhodes said in the deposition. “And she said, ‘who do you think you are, you black m—f—.’
“The way in which she said m—f— was more lower voiced, under her breath. She said black loud enough for me to hear, she said mother loud enough for me to hear. F— part was a little lower. I had to look at her lips to hear her say it. And I did.”
quote:
In another deposition from 2009, former on-site manager Maira Oliva described Rochelle Sterling's visiting the apartment building she worked at on South Ardmore Avenue.
Oliva: “She said, ‘Oh, my God. This is so filthy. I can’t remodel my apartments the way that I want because Latinos are so filthy."
Attorney: “Did she say those exact words, ‘Latinos are so filthy’?”
Oliva: “I can’t remodel my building the way I want and that the building was filthy because of the Latinos."

Kevin Hart makes fun of white people. Ban him from Hollywood.

i love how offended Mike Greenberg can get over things.

My biggest complaint in this whole situation relates back to the housing discrimination thing. While both events were terrible, the housing stuff was far worse in my mind because it actually impacted the day to day lives of minorities. There's no reason Sterling should have been allowed to own a team after he was found guilty of housing discrimination.

I have tried to not follow this whole shitestorm of a news story...but why would the ex-wife who doesn't even seem to be a part of this story (it's mostly sterling and the gf right?) have to ask permission to attend a sporting event?

1. she technically, sort of owns the team with sterling
2. she participated in his racist schemes in the past

they just had stephen a on and he said the players want something to happen in a week regarding ownership. If they think sterling is going to just hand over the team they are crazy. We are talking about 100's of millions of dollars and 100's of millions in tax dollars also

Can she make basketball operations?

My favorite thing about this is Sterling's black Israeli argument.
Posted on 4/30/14 at 7:50 am to hendersonshands
absolutely. also, throw in the whole "Israel is a racist theocracy" angle, and if Greenie is claiming Jews are a minority, then by the modern definition of racism they can't be racists, and you get a big sociological mindfrick

Sterling should sell the team to her or his kids

She technically doesn't own the team. That's what they were saying earlier. That it's a ploy by her to distance herself so he can give her the team and avoid capital gains taxes.

quote:There's a big difference. Kevin Hart is doing an openly tongue in cheek comedy routine. Donald Sterling is patently racist and discriminating.

But we're on a slippery slope with this punishment. The ban and the fine are okay, that's the NBA's decision as they're a private corporation, right? BUT, I do have a problem with this urging to get him to sell the team. Donald Sterling SHOULD sell the Clippers, but on his own accord. The NBA should not force him to, as that's pushing some serious boundaries and setting a very invasive precedent.

their property, right now, is a nebulous mass of property that she owns a portion of. his biggest holding is the team, so she theoretically owns a portion of it
