On October 9th I completed the Appalachian Trail by summitting Mount Katahdin in Maine. I hiked from Springer Mountain in Georgia (just north of Atlanta) through 14 states to Mount Katahdin in Baxter State Park, Maine from April 1st, 2013 to October 9th, 2013.
2185.9 Miles (officially)
In the process I missed all the LSU games :( I tried to get home for Saturday but because the game was moved I couldn't make it in time.
I'll be watching the game at Baseball Tavern (behind Fenway Park) in Boston.
GEAUX TIGRES!!!!
Edit: YouTube video of the summit of Mount Katahdin
Edit2: YouTube video of the entire hike (22 minutes)

Sweet! I like that you took six months to do it. I think it's a much more enjoyable pace and you can actually spend some time enjoying nature (and few rest days per month.
I think the people who hike 20 or 25 miles every day and rarely, if ever, rest, are really missing the boat. The only point is to finish as quickly as possible. A walk in the woods get turned into the Bataan Death March. I don't get it!
How much weight did you typically carry?

Amazing.
I grew up on the trial and can tell you that what you have done I will never be able to do in the time span you did it, I've done 1/5 of it and coukdnt imagine going the whole way through in 7 months
RA for sticky

Were you with your dad? The local Kayaking shop here in Columbus Georgia has been posting updates on their Facebook page of a father/son duo that just hiked the AP Trail.
