re: Considering purchase of used Polaris Ranger...Need advice
Posted by LongDuckDong on 8/29/17 at 11:35 am to TigerFan4040
This was my first thought, but I do have some concerns with the some of the noises it's making - i.e., linkage "clanking" when starting to move after shifting gears. No engine ticking or it's not noticeable. I've got a mechanic down the road that'll look at it for me when he returns from vacation at the end of the week. Thanks to all for the input.
Considering purchase of used Polaris Ranger...Need advice

I've got an opportunity to purchase a 2008 Polaris Ranger 700 XP (EFI) from a friend who is moving and cannot take it with him. It's got 5000 miles and 525 hours on it and he's asking $4,000. Only issue is the parking brake will not stay in the off position. Hence the bungy chord noticeable in the front profile picture. What say the OB, fair price or not?

Thanks for the post. Not only will I give this a shot, but I'm sharing it with my 12 year old (Little Dong 1} so that it might be a joint venture - he loves a project. More importantly, he can "pass it down" to the next generation, too, granted he is so inclined. Shining example of why this board was created.
Again, thanks for sharing.

Fried cheese sticks and fried mushrooms from the Chimes - carried out to the Varsity. Waiting on Jamey Johnson to take the stage. Belated Valentine's Day gift for Mrs Dong.

They're all over the SHR area, but I've yet to kill one with more than 14 rattles

Little Dong 1 had me fry some up. We'll see how much he actually eats.

Neighbor down the way killed this nasty bastard and was kind enough to drop it off so the little Dongs can make hat bands.

Godspeed to your Pops. Lost mine eleven years ago at the age of 62 and still think of him daily.

Today's Project: Rattlesnake Board Mount - updated w/ pic of finished product
Posted by LongDuckDong on 7/25/15 at 3:53 pm
Prepping the board and softening the snakeskin for Little Dong 2's rattlesnake board mount. Hate that the snake is in two pieces, but I was in such a hurry to exterminate him, I didn't notice that his head was just over his midsection. We'll patch him together and it'll look just fine.
Best part, Mrs Dong actually tanned the hide.

Filet mignon, fish of the day meunière, grilled asparagus and roasted new potatoes at the Baton Rouge Country Club. Celebrated my in-laws 50th anniversary with their children, grandchildren and some of their closest friends. Food was good, but it was overshadowed by the occasion. Honored to have them as my in laws.

If fresh, baked whole in the oven is hard to beat.

Damn, that's a big one. Crazy how big around the one we encountered was. shite still gives me the willies knowing how close his hand was to the snake before it started rattling.

While assisting me with yard work, Little Dong 2 took off after a toad and almost got a handful of this bad boy when he reached down to pick up said toad. Forty eight inches, less his head, and 10 rattles plus a button. Nasty mother trucker!

Had it been my finger, I'd super glued it and wrapped it with a band aid. Since it belonged to Mrs Dong, I thought I'd take her to see a doctor and the Lake After Hours clinic was closed and both of our docs were out of town. Therefore, we opted for the ER. I'll pay a premium for the visit, but considering we were in and out in under an hour, I welcome the added cost.

Hot dogs and burgers at the sports park while viewing the fireworks display.
Had to make a trip to the ER after the drill got the better of Mrs Dong's finger. A little durabond and a splint and she's good to go.

Leftover pork chops and rice. Snuck down to the pond once the rain stopped and caught this girl on an ultralight setup. Also, caught 4 more after switching over to my regular setup using a green lizard.

Umbilical - son of a bugger was so uncomfortable for the two weeks I had to wait for surgery, the pain from recovery is welcomed.

Pork chop surprise with rice.
Retired to the den and listening to our Campfire Set on Spotify with Mrs. Dong. Recovering from an abdominal hernia repair I had done on Friday. Today is the first day I've felt "normal" since the surgery. Off the pain meds, well rested and no anesthesia hangover. Still sore but ibuprofen is keeping it manageable.
