Us old guys and slow learners are gonna need some help here......

# Always wait a few minutes before you post something really stupid.

# Sarcasm doesn't always translate online.

What else ya got?

Its ok to disagree with a post, but don't attack the poster. No one wants threads hijacked with juvenile name calling.

young and dumb is often a truism. it isn't stupidity, it's ignorance. look up the difference. often, youngsters think they know way more than they actually do. it's often better to keep ones mouth shut and let people wonder if you are ignorant than to open and prove that you are. just sayin'

I am quite familiar withe the definition of each.

How about pay attention, use logical deductions, and rely on common sense rather than publication of "unwritten" rules of the obvious.

i agree. sorry if i upset you. i wasn't trying to be personal. if everyone did what you say PLUS actually did some research before avering some crazy thing no ignorance would exist; only difference of opinion. and i think the op is opening an interesting can of worms with his "unwritten rule" thing. enjoy.

Use the filter.

Read words like frick, shite, arse, & fricker, believing that profanity is a thing of the past.

1)Don't use exclamation points! Not every point you make is that exciting!

2)Also, if you have a question, take some time to search on the board chances are it has been discussed before.

3)You are not the moderator of the thread you started. So don't call out every person for flaming you. Chances are they are just trying to give you a hard time, and it is best to just ignore them.

4)Not every negative comment is trolling. Keep an open mind and a level head because defending your honor on this board will only get you so far.

Any poster that follows his body of words with

'Thats a fact' or 'period, end of story' is in fact dead wrong and has no clue wtf he's saying. And just trying to sell his insecure argument.

That's a fact.

5) Don't expect nothing but positive responses when you attempt to be an amateur sports writer. Especially when you write 100 lines of text with no spaces, statistics, or general facts of any kind.

It gets a little old trying to sift through 10 threads on the first page titled "My keys to the game" or "The REAL reason we lost."

6)Before you start a thread find a couple ofl reasons to backup your post built around facts. Consider counter arguments to your post, and respond to negative remarks with an intelligent response.

Calling people idiots for not agreeing with your opinion will never go well.

This

I finally had to make a rule for myself...I cannot post when I am drunk. This severely limits my opportunities but I think it is for the best.

7) Keep your OP short. Just because you took the time to post it doesn't mean everyone should take the time to read it.

Try and use a few short concise sentences to make your point. If you can't then prepare for an onslaught of TL;DR.

No one wants to read a short novel on this board. Especially those of us that mostly post from our phone. There are plenty of other posts on here to capture our short, heavily medicated attention spans.

Half of your post is probably rambling anyway.
