Since I responded to this a few months ago, I bought another pistol and it has to be on top of the list.

H&K SP5k PDW.

Put a ton of rounds through it and it has not had a single hiccup. On top of that, next to the 1911 and maybe Uzi, it's one of the most iconic pistols/submachine gun of the 20th century.

I’m going to throw in my Springfield EMP9 3” 1911. I have probably 700 rounds through it with zero FTF. It’s accurate and recoil is negligible. I carry it in a Mikt Sparks summer special holster. I have customized it for carry. Cut and crowned the barrel, flat trigger, replaced internals with nighthawk disconnect and sear. Also changed out the slide stop with a nighthawk. Upgraded the sights with Heine ledge pro straight 8 night sights. Finally has VZ G10’s made for the EMP line.

Springfield probably makes the best bang for your buck 1911’s.

For me,

1: Reliability
2: accuracy/trigger
3: Concealability if for EDC
4: grip comfort/angle
5: Capacity

I really don't have a problem with any manufacturers....the more the better.
But the Glock is indestructible. I have a Gen 1, 40 cal, long barrel....never cleaned it and it has never failed, not once.....and that has been 10 years plus.

Walther PPQ with one spring swap

Les Baer Premier II with options

Ruger LC9 Pro S

Sig P210 for target only

That’s enough

Nighthawk TRS Commander if price isn’t a factor. It’s like a cheat code for firearms.

Edited to replace Glock with Beretta.

The full-size Storm and 92fs are sweet shooters. I’ve shot both but not enough to include as one of my top 5, but close.

My issue with them, they don't actually make anything. It's all imported.

1911 is Brazillian (Imbel) take on the pistol.
xD is Croatian, HS2000 rebranded.

Springfield is just a "classic name" that they use, to make people feel good about it... it's not the same company that is rooted in American firearms history.
It's like people who brag on, say, Lionheart, not realizing they're simply licensed and spiffed up Daewoo's.

If I like a gun, I like to credit the designer and original (actual) manufacturer, not someone who imported and then maybe started copying it. That's the reason I would say CZ instead of Tristar or Canik, or EAA Witness series.

Springfield’s 1911’s are manufactured at their Geneseo, Illinois plant. I would argue they are more true to John Brownings original design than say S&W. They bastardized the 1911 with an external extractor and firing pin block.
