Anybody here own this boat? Was looking to purchase a 25 ranger or robalo cc but not looking forward to cleaning such a big boat. I have an aluminum boat now and looking for something bigger. Is this xpress boat an option for big bays?

It's an option, sure.

But a 23' aluminum boat won't ride nearly as well as a 25' glass boat. Different leagues really.

...but it'll do it.

You have the option to buy a 25' Ranger or Robalo, and you are considering an aluminum boat?

so, buy a boat that's recently been known for breaking welds.... or a ranger
if youre looking into a 23 foot boat, 2 extra feet wont make a difference

Buy a used Fiberglass bay boat and a new pressure washer. You can clean the entire thing in 20 minutes.

Yea I'm lazy on Sundays and don't want to spend 4 hours scrubbing blood off of a boat before I drive home 3 hours. And there is the 40,000$ difference in price of course.

I sold my 22ft Xpress last year for a 22ft Blue Wave. The quality of the glass Boats vs. the Xpress is significant. They are just crappy made Boats for inshore saltwater fishing. If you can afford the ranger I have no earthly idea why you would even consider the Xpress.

Just a few issues we had:

Two welds bust where the bottom starts to angle up towards the bow. As Maisweh said, it’s a well known problem and they haven’t fixed it. I think there is too much flex in the bow when you get into serious chop. You will also get beat to hell riding one.

The trailer is also an issue. We got the “redfish” packaged that was supposed to be galvanized but it’s a POS. We had to replace BOTH axles and all the leaf springs on it.

Get the glass boat.

Look at the blazer bay with the splatter deck, might be an option for you. Easy to clean and still a nice glass boat ride.

I got rid of a 2016 X22B last fall. It was a nice boat but would beat you up pretty good in a chop. I didn’t have any issues with the welds.
It’s a pita to put on the trailer when it’s windy. You will drive yourself crazy at the landing.

The Ranger and the Xpress 23 aren't even in the same class. I would go fiberglass all day. Talked to a guy the other day in a 23' Ranger at the dock. It was a sweet rig.

The 2510 Ranger is my dream boat. That thing is sweet!

Thanks for the replies, looking at ranger 2360 or Robalo cayman 25. I thought xpress had fixed the crack issues but I guess I’m wrong about that. Looks like I’ll bite the bullet and go big

Get an electric pressure washer so that it's not strong enough to really mess anything up, but also will still clean well enough. If your'e spending that kind of coin get it ceramic coated and clean up will be much easier.

This is false, particularly if you're fishing somewhere that's deep enough to hold established ground swell. A 25' can stay on top of ground swell that a 23' boat cannot. If you're fishing big water and can spring the extra cost for the 25', you should do it.

A good friend of mine had an Xpress split nearly bow to stern along the central longitudal weld. After seeing that, and seeing how the company handled it, you couldn't give me one for free.

I was talking about cleaning, not how it handles.

Still wrapping my head around cleaning being to priority if you can swing a $100,000 bay Boat and settling for a lesser product???
My fat arse would pay someone to clean my boat if I had that problem.

Same. Ease of cleaning has never really been a consideration for me when making a large purchase.

Just comparing a 25' ranger and a 22' xpress is crazy. It's not even the same catorgory. Ranger makes a 23' also. I had a xpress and it sucked.

I have an xpress flat and several welds have broken on it over the years. Still love it though

It's not a 22 xpress, its a new model that's 23 feet with higher sides. The choice is a boat I'm going to be worried about every little thing or a aluminum boat that I don't have to care about if I bump or scratch . I'm OCD as f__k, and keep everything super clean
