Friend of mine in the Dallas area found this thing in his house this AM. Never seen anything like it myself.

First thought was broad-banded, but that's a lot of color even for them.

I've never seen one that looked like that, but it does appear to be the underside

What Google AI says

The snake in the image is likely a Common Krait (Bungarus caeruleus). It is a highly venomous snake found in the Indian subcontinent. Here's some helpful information about it:
Appearance: Glossy black or bluish-black with white bands across the body.
Venom: Contains powerful neurotoxins that can cause muscle paralysis. It is considered more virulent than a cobra's venom.
Behavior: Nocturnal and often found near human dwellings. Generally shy and avoids confrontation.
Habitat: Jungles and open countryside.
Danger: It is one of the "big four" snakes in India responsible for the most snakebites. Bites often occur at night when people are sleeping.
Action if bitten: Seek immediate medical attention as the venom can be fatal if untreated.

Why doesn’t the house look like a crime scene? Was the chef out of BBs?
