Well, if I read right you said you bow hunt with a pistol on your hip because you're afraid of somebody walking up on you. That is pretty gay and down vote worthy. Imho

Considering I have in fact had two hunts one in S. TX and one in MO where I in fact encountered a trespasser who was illegally poaching at less than 50 yards, I believe I have plenty of precedent.

Until you are strapped into a tree 15 ft off the ground with only the self defense power of a compound bow and encounter someone who is already breaking state and federal law and who is insisting you are in "his" stand, it may be hard to explain the unsettling feeling it gives you.

It is also nice to have the sidearm for encounters with hogs. Specifically when tracking a wounded hog.

For those that dislike concealed carry or believe that it somehow makes the carrier paranoid or inferior, I really have no argument. That is your prerogative. I have been too often close to violence that deserves no foothold in my life or family.

You should hunt less dangerous spots.

I agree! Damn if I don't live in the meth capital of TX, hunted basically on the Mexico border, and was hunting in the meth capital of MO.

My SD and KS trip were much less eventful.

And since few have realized it, the point of this thread was to elaborate how stupid the up/down vote process is on this board.

good lord man. Of all the situations I could imagine where I may encounter somebody trying to do me bodily harm, sitting in a tree with a compound bow is pretty damn close to the bottom of the list. I've had people walk up on me hunting way more than two times. And every time I thought "here's some numb nuts walking up on me". Never once did I expect I was about to be be brutally murdered. I don't like to be burdened by much at all while bow hunting. I could'nt imagine trying to climb a tree or weasel up in a lock on with a hogleg strapped to my hip. But I certainly don't care if you or whoever does. Some anonymous person on the Internet down voted your opinion. WTF cares? It's just the internet

It serves a purpose other than the dickwads that simply downvote a poster because he doesn't like that poster.

I completely agree. Never would have imagined it either until it happened.

Ill find the link to the thread latter.

I was pretty rattled. It was a "guided hunt" and property I was not familiar with. I was assured by landowner no one was to be hunting there. At first light some guy comes walking in. I told him to stop and figured he would just leave and I would finish the hunt but he wanted to argue. I figured if he was trespassing and poaching what was stopping him from carrying illegally (it was illegal in MO at that time) also.

agree. I carry less and less with me as I bow hunt more. Basically bow 3 arrows and a knife now. The pistol on my hip is never even noticed.

I agree, that was the point of the thread. Hell, I've been wanting to catch back up with you ever since the EJW benefit. Seems like you have a wealth of knowledge to pull from and would be a blast to hunt and fish with or just share some bourbon with.

This swingin' dick does, 34..

I was eating a meat pie in Lasyones in Natchitoches today, following along on my phone and thought it said it was Polar Pops squirrels. I immediately contacted PP and asked if I could assist in rounding up a mounted, armed on hip and concealed weapon posse, to find and pursue, arrest if needed, a squirrel picture stealing photobucket poacher.

ot sure if I should up vote or down vote this.

Does up vote mean I hate the tards that hate for us to carry? Or does Upvote mean I agree with downvoting a person who admits to carrying a firearm?

The riddle of of this thread is killing me

Carry on

I don't know what this thread is about but I came here to ironically down vote this thread. Just because.
