CBS is reporting massive spending on parties, conferences and conventions by Wounded Warrior Project.

According to CBS - in 2014:
WW received $300 million in donations.
Spent only $27.9 million on combat stress recovery programs.
Spent over $26 million on parties, conventions, meetings & conferences.
CEO's salary was $473,000
Top 10 Execs total salaries were $2.6 million

I think I'm gonna find another veteran's group to send my donations to.

I am not military, however, not a single one of my military friends support WW. That is good enough reason for me to never donate a dollar.

Im sure it's true, but it doesn't say what they did with the rest of the money. Most of it probably went to helping wounded vets. The 29.7 figure was only for PTSD injuries.

Those celebrity endorsements I'd guess are expensive. Was Bruce Willis at lunch today, has been Trace Adkins recently. I wondered what kind of org they were, as in how it's managed because they've been burning up the airwaves recently.

It goes into a fund, these large scale charities are about sustainability. Their first priority is long term stability, then the cause.

It's not nessicarly wrong, although some are bad, as these groups are the ones that can support and fund on a larger scale. There are enough charities out there where you can make sure your money goes to where you want it.

I won't chastize someone for still having and supporting a cause(not singling out any charity in particular)

Would never support WW. Plenty of other programs to support for the boys when they come home.

Several times at the oilfield fishing tournaments the Wounded Warrior organization was collecting money. At least 3 times I attempted to donate one day per month to take a wounded soldier from the area fishing on Toledo at my cost. They would not even talk to me. Only wanted to talk if I wanted to donate money. You make your own judgements. I have. I am not surprised at all by what is coming out in the news this week.

Alternately, I have participated in one called Wounded War Heroes for the last 5 years for this exact reason. We take the wounded soldiers hunting at our expense, foundation pays for the taxidermy if they kill a buck and for the meat processing. Very good organization. They host several deer hunts in La/Texas, and fishing trips at Toledo Bend and Venice. had a great hunt again this year. "My soldier" killed a nice 10 pt buck. I have been very happy participating in this org.

WW has a thing about having their name displayed at events with guns. They will not get involved with shooting events at all. Rumors are execs are anti-gun.

Add to that their anti second amendment stance and I don't see how anyone supports them.

They are very anti gun.

I saw the interview with that CEO a few days ago. He pretty much said he wasn't going to answer any questions. To which the first Q was why was 3 million spent at this one conference. He was smug as shite.

According to the charity's tax forms obtained by CBS News, spending on conferences and meetings went from $1.7 million in 2010, to $26 million in 2014, which is the same amount the group spends on combat stress recovery.

I'm a veteran and stopped donations to WWP because of these ridiculous spending habits. We were counseled in donating money once a year and signed up for it when I was in service and they always told us to avoid those who had overhead admin fees above 20%.

This is what I'm talking about. Good on you bro.

In this same sense I don't support American Cancer Society on the national level. Things such as Relay for Life and things like that. No telling where my money is going. I help out on the local level when I can. I have cooked for benefits of local cancer patients, made a couple raffle/auction items all to help raise money for the person going through treatment. All to often ive heard of people trying to get help from these organizations to be shot down.

I've bought WW Anglers boat raffle tickets for the Florida organization for a couple years. Last year i noticed that the winners were always close core to the organization down there. I don't know if the fix was in, but when the winners are all fishing buddies . . .
