re: Would you defend your dog from another dog with deadly force?

I go to the two dog parks in Baton Rouge (Burbank & City Park)
ONCE, a pit/lab mix grabbed my 13 year old lab by the throat. Death grip, shaking her and shite. My lab was trying to cry out but her airway was blocked. I yelled at the dog, looked around for the owner......nobody was stepping forward to pull it off. I went to pull it off and it jumped to the other side of my lab and shook again. I saw blood on my dog's neck........
So I strait up soccer kicked the ever loving shite out of that dog right in the ribcage. Running start. I'm sure I cracked ribs. That dog flipped, snapped at me in mid-air, yelped and ran for the hills.
His owner and two of his friends ran up on me and were ready to start shite for kicking his dog. My blood was up and I was pretty much willing to throw down. However, just about every other dog owner came up and started yelling at them. It was awesome. They grabbed that piece of shite dog and bolted.
Overall, I don't mind aggressive play. It gets a bunch of energy out of my Rhodesian's system. She actually LOVES to wrestle pits and boxers. They find each other every time I go. It's good for her. But I'm protective of my old lab.
Anyway, that's all I got.

Damn dude. That is quite a scary story.
This sounds pretty similar to what some guys said on the first page about tiny girls getting a huge dog that they can't handle. Nothing annoys me more than that. They don't discipline them worth a shite and are shocked when they latch onto another dog.
In your case, with your golden easily outsized and the owner telling you to kill it, if it were me, I wouldn't have hesitated. Good to see you neutralized the situation without having to kill. And I'm glad your pup made it out alright.

Bapple, be jealous. Here is the real Beaux when he graduated LSU in 2011. That dog is a genius. I am convinced he is gonna be a doctor some day
Good looking lab.

I do thourpughly enjoy punting that little dog.
Do little dogs have similar trajectory as a football in flight?

then you do an airplane spin into the nearest tree or trafic.
Sounds like a solid solution.

However, if the attacking dog was any breed that folks use for fighting, then shoot 'em...no warning...you don't want one of those things latching on your leg.
I thought of this scenario when I saw a pitbull walking around. I know, I know... the breed takes a lot of flak. But regardless, I know how powerful their jaws are. I mean shite, their jaw muscles are the reason their heads are gigantic. I don't think those muscles could stop a 9mm to the dome though.

Glad your lab made it out. If a pit had my lab by the throat, I don't think it would be much of a hard decision. Those things just don't let go. It would get a nice Speer Gold Dot in the head.

I would kill the shite outta someone else's dog if it was attacking mine. I generally try to spare dogs, but if it came down to theirs or mine, that mf'er is toast.

try bringing a bottle of ammonia to dog park. when one gets out of line, give them a squirt or two to the face. dont laugh too hard at the result though.

They sorta fly like a football, they usually spin pretty good since they are oddly balanced front to rear and since its a moving small target it's hard to get the best possible connection with your foot.

I had a good LOL after reading that one.

Stick your finger in his arse. A dog will turn loose of whatever he is biting but be ready because he might latch on to the arm/hand closest to his arse.

No. Don't bring your dog to the park if it can't be around other dogs without attacking. My doberman wouldn't hurt a yorkie and if it did it would be my fault and not the yorkie's.
Totally agree. Plenty of big dogs absolutely love playing with smaller dogs and know to be gentle without being told. Dobermans are pretty good dog. My brother used to have one that wouldn't hurt a soul. She'd sit a foot from her bowl and watch the birds eating her food.

I imagine they soar through the air nicely when they curl up.

Off topic, but they swim well too. One caught me by surprise and quick thinking had me boot it in the canal. Because of its shape I figured it'd sink like a rock. He just trucked it to the other side and went on about his business.
