DO NOT throw the best party in highschool at his house.
When he tells the story he was pretty sure me and the other guy were going to throw the guide overboard. So I think he kept such a positive attitude to keep us from doing so.
Not only did he eat a sandwich without asking he also made a comment that he prefers wheat bread. And then he said he likes coors light more than bud light. It was unreal. I don't think he had a clue how close he came to going swimming that day

Other than the two previously mentioned bait and switch trips on Big Lake, I almost came to blows with Brent Roy on the dock at the Venice Marina because he didn't want to let me bring my tackle box on his boat. Arguing with my for quite some time, all in front of my client. I finally win, then he gets peeved later when I pull out some June Bug Bass Assassins that weren't generally available to the public at that time. Starts yelling at me again, "where did you get those?". Tells my client that he casts like a girl, which doesn't set too well with my client's wife, who actually casts pretty damn well. And every time we would get on a hot bite, he'd say, we need to move, try someplace new, with 2-3 trout hitting the deck at a time. I'm pretty sure he would benefit from some time in charm school and a heavy dose of Adderall.

I'll switch it up, here's a few guides I felt sorry for.
Last fall in Lafite, about 15 guys I work with all go inshore for the yearly company trip. Ends up being 5 guides, all with really nice boats and gear, all on time and professional. One of the captains is lucky enough to draw "Tom" on his boat. "Tom" likes to bitch, and one-up, and generally knows everything.
All of the other boats either came close to limiting out on trout, or got some nice reds depending on what they wanted. The boat Tom was on had two sheephead and a single trout.
On the way home, we find out from the poor souls on that boat that Tom spent all day telling the guide what to do. When they first got to the spot, within a few mins Tom said they needed to move. Then they needed to change bait (the shrimp weren't big enough). Then they needed to chase that pile of birds over there. Then they needed to try this back channel. They said after two hours of being treated like a 9 yr old, the guide gave up and just quit talking. He would troll where Tom said to, no bites, then just shake his head. The other two were office guys, and didn't realize just how out of line this was.
Last weekend I had a inshore guide tell me he was glad to see my brother and I could bait a hook, his last charter was a couple from Pennsylvania that kept asking where the red snapper were and somehow managing to get spinning reels tangled/nested.

Holy hell that is funny!

Are you sure he was even a licensed charter captain? He could of been just some south padre beach bum looking for booze.

Years ago me and 5-6 other guys took a trip out of grand isle for offshore fishing. We arrived at the marina and met the captain. He hurried us on to the boat without a chance to get snuff, crackers, drinks, ect. We are headed out and I notice there is absolutely zero electronics on the boat. The brackets were there but no electronics. With only a compass we head out into the GOM. We arrive at a rig and start to catch snapper. Limited out on snapper and started targeting other species. We had an ice box full of fish and turned the boat back North. When we get close I notice we go around the other side of the island different from where we departed. He pulls the boat up to an industrial type dock and tells us to get out and walk around the building and take an old arse passenger van back to our vehicle. We asked about our fish as well as settling up with him on money. He says that we should go ahead and get our vehicles and he would meet us at the camp we were renting for the weekend. The guy was being shady as all get out. We left and did what he told us to do. The captain showed up late that night acting all nervous. He gave us our cleaned fish and we went to pay him. We had a check made out to the proper guide service that he wouldn't take. He stated that he preferred cash. We scraped up all the cash we had which was about half of the total. He took that amount said thanks and to call his cellnot the guide service if we ever wanted to go again. The next day the guide service calls to tell us they will be charging our credit card because we no-showed. We explained and there was some pissed off people on that little island. We never found out what the deal was but we think some random dude intercepted us at the dock only to take us fishing in a borrowed/stolen boat. We caught fish and drank beer nonetheless.

Sounds like a guide that got fired/quit and knew the set up, either way you got your fish for half price.

You should not let that broke slap dick guide be a judge of texas fishing. I have a house in Baffin and have had several good trips with guys from rockport all the way to the landcut. If you want to go again try some guys like Danny gonzales Cliff Webb, Aubry Black, or if you are into fly fishing there are some good guys who split time between there and florida

Duck hunt in the Mississippi Delta. We had about an hour boat ride up this river in 20 degree temperatures. Then about a half mile walk through thick woods to get to the edge of this pond. Guide tosses out 6 decoys. We are told to shoot at wood ducks flying by early that had to be a good 70-80 yards in the air. Ended up with one gadwall. Three or four came in and we knocked down one.

That is exactly what he was. I think he actually did some fly fishing guiding in the rockies.

Was there any water in this pond?
Yea I think it was more of a lake. It was deep as shite. You couldn't walk out more than 20-30 feet before it was over the waders.
I've hunted with buddies up in the delta several times and we've never done great. Always saw lots of birds but the weren't coming nowhere close
