My wife is a great cook. Why the hell she ever cooks stuff from that website I will never know.

Mine too. I have no problem eating a damn roast exactly like I have for the last 30 something years. Why we have to go to 2 specialty stores to buy 12 ingredients NEVER found in an average kitchen just to make a borderline edible meal blows my mind. I'm good with salt, pepper, butter, flour, and vinegar. I can pretty much cook anything with that. If she wants something different I'll just add more pepper than usual.

Get a nail puller. It will still be work but this will get the nails out without splintering the boards.

A long crow-bar would give leverage and wouldn't be too difficult to pry apart

I certainly can't blame you, we're kinda like "choice select" ribeyes that got mistakenly dropped in the ham and baloney bin..

DIY projects with some pallets.

there is this smoking hot girl that lives by me and she is obsessed with this. She's in her driveway all all hours of the day and night, wearing nothing but a bikini, or just her underwear messing with these pallets. The other day she a very skimpy halter top and yoga pants on, I swear 'm going to wreck my truck one day looking to see if she's outside working or not.

Perhaps that is the real genius of the project's designer...

That vid was a pretty legit method...
Seems like it would be easier to use a sledge hammer.

Also, I'd take a couple of C clamps and clamp a 2 x 6 to the pallet board and just peel it after I got one corner.

I love that Prettybird has come to the OB to ask about working with the wood. Hell its at least a start in the right direction.

For real though, many pallets are fastened together with staples. They can be a bitch to get them out. You can take a saw-z-all with a bi-metal blade and cut the staples in between the two boards that are fastened together. This will leave the head of the staple in but will not damage the board by prying the staples out. Sand the boards down and stain them with various stains until you find the one you like. Then start building whatever it is you have on your mind. Oh yeah, pics, we need pics as you go.

My coworker made a bunk bed with a slide out of used pallets. Of course it was his wife's idea.

He made her help him with removing all the nails and he sanded the boards down and made it. I heard it turned out well but I haven't seen pics. I will try to get some.

Just make sure not to run it through a planer.

LMAO at the pinterest hate...My ex girlfriend was obsessed with that shite... One day she shows me a picture of pallets buried about a foot deep standing straight up on pinterest
She says "Look you can make a fence around the pool for the dogs out of pallets for real cheap and it looks neat."
I gave her a shovel and told her I would put the pallets in the ground when she got done digging the trench.
Needless to say, I dont have a pallet fence around my pool

You need a prybar and a lot of pallets. For every good piece you can successfully take apart you'll probably frick up 5 or more.

ETA I'd probably find somewhere else to salvage old wood from

Does anyone have first hand experience at taking these apart?

At one point in my life my job was repairing pallets

By far the worst part of the job was taking them apart. Those bastards are almost impossible to take apart without the boards exploding.

The best thing I found for taking them off was one of those really long (and terribly heavy) railroad bars. It's something you use to move railcars.

A much easier alternative if you don't need the full length is to just cut the bastards.

I work with pallets every day at work and absolutely hate the things. Always break and stop the wheel on the pallet jack. Our fork lift will frick up a pallet real good and real quick.
