Sorry to make another topic, didnt want to hijack the anyone else's topic.

Hogs are destroying around feeders, you know the drill..

Are there any lights to use at night (possibly) mounted on feeder itself that would allow a shooter enough ambient light to use a stardard rifle/scope at night?

Basically looking for cheaper alternative to NV/Thermal

They have a light that attaches to your scope. Never used one, so I don't know how well they work.

Your best bet is probably making a pen around the feeder with hog wire to keep them out.

What brand feeders do you have? Friend of mine uses Moultrie and these lights mount directly to the feeder motor and work! We've killed numerous hogs under his feeders at night.

solar landscape lights taped to feeder legs. There's a lurker here that refuses to sign up and post that did it. woulda worked well, if we would have gotten off our asses and gone out there.

I'm thinking something like this. Make a cross. Wire green leds firing toward ground. Powered by feeder battery. Mount to top of feeder.

Pew pew?

There are multiple different brands and models of feeder. This would be portable and super cheap.

bullshite Rules

LDWF and the La Legislature have it wrong on this issue. A landowner should be able to protect his property from vermin no matter if during hunting season or not. I guess we're making headway though - used to, one couldn't shoot anything except coons at night, but we used to shoot the piss out of beavers at night anyway.

Night shooting during hunting season would be stressful for the deer herd. It's the only break they get.

I don't know how the permitting process works, maybe it's easy to get?

On Time Feeders out of Ruston is selling a gravity feeder that costs only $80 that can be put on a 7 ft t post or attached to tree if wanted. Hogs can't reach it-only deer. Holds 80 lbs. of corn.

My advice would be to stop the feeders at most plots. Deer will still come to eat planted food.

Then build a corral trap around the remaining feeders.

Deer can jump in and out but pigs will get stuck.
