re: Why is modern gun deer season in Arkansas so much shorter than Louisiana ?

I know we’re getting close to opening weekend when every thread just turns into yall bitching about how your neighbors kill everything.

Cajuns with shitty pine tree timber leases are always mad about deer quality.

Mean time, giant bucks are getting blasted up and down the river every year.

The land is the problem. 80 acre pine tree tracts suck everywhere in the whole country, including arkansas.

The only problem with our season is doe days

It should be noted too that the people hunting the river have gobs of money and are on some type of management plan.

The people killing premium bucks in arkansas are also on premium land practicing some kind of management.

Its a universal rule everywhere in the world. Rules 1 2 and 3 of having plenty big bucks to shoot at is have non shitty land, have enough of it, dont shoot every buck you see. The shittier the land is, the more of it you need to control your own misery. The seasons being shortened or lengthened or whatever within reason dont affect those people. They have premium acreage and generally a fair bit of it, and they kill huge shite.

shite land timber leases and rice fields in louisiana are never going to produce giant bucks regularly unless you fence it in and manage it like a cattle operation.

Quit trying to regulate the rest of us out of our fun. Not all of us want Louisiana to be some selective trophy buck destination, even though those places already exist. Go to Arkansas if you want to experience that but you should be prepared to be disappointed. They have all the same issues we do.

I'd love to go hit up some public land in southern Arkansas.

Was looking at Ozarks, Felsenthal, White River and Trusten earlier. Probably be on my radar for next year when I’ll have more free time.
