Why do rent-all managers get grumpy when asked for stump grinder blades to be sharpened...

Do you honestly think they are going to sharpen them for you? They are likely on a schedule if at all, but they certainly don’t do routine maintenance just for someone that randomly asks them.

Probably because the are carbide tipped and take special equip to sharpen and will still cut even if the look worn out.
Time taken, $'s spent, vs return on investment.

I'm curious if OP knows how sharp they are supposed to be in the first place? I'm no stump griding guru but they aren't "blades" they are teeth. They aren't really supposed to be "sharp" like a knife or axe. They are even when brand new, fairly dully. They grind by 100s of revolutions removing small amounts at a time. The smaller ones just take time.
