Hell, I'd give up damn near every material thing I have just to be able to move my family way the hell away from town and deal with plants, dirt, and the Good Lord's rain every day. I'm trying to retire so I can become a full-time farmer.

If by some chance they give it up I won't pass it up a second time. I wanted to go to school, and I'm glad I did, but sometimes I think that was one of the few instances where not going to school would have been the better decision. But that was 7 years ago. I wasn't ready for it then I guess.

We farm roughly 2,900 acres of sugarcane, supplemented by wheat/soybeans in the fallow.

It is a wonderful way of life...a lot of work though. People don't really understand all of the work that goes into making/harvesting a crop. I sure didn't understand it when I left a full time practice to farm.
You either love it or hate it...very few people fall in the middle.

family has an incredible amount of farm land from addis to white castle. I think slowly but surely all of it is being developed though

A common theme, it's the farmers largest problem in that area.

1. I didn't start it up about your pond!!!

B. You have to admit that was funny!!!!

III. It is the price you have to pay for having a legendary OB thread.

I am slowly trying to get out of row crops but this year will probably break down close to
40 acres corn
120 acres peanuts
100 acres cotton
15 acres produce watermelons, cantalopes, tomatoes, some jalapenos and bell peppers, okra and peas. Last year tried pablanos but lost my arse on them.
I will take about 50 or so acres this year out of crop rotation and put in pasture. Right now I have about 150 head but I want that number to increase by a bunch.

Which one do you see the most profit from?

Is this because you rather fool with cattle or is it financially motivated
