Mine isn't large in area, but I picked right at 1,500 lbs of tomatoes last year in my garden. Had about 300 lbs of cucumbers. I have a ledger at home I could look at to be exact, but those are approximate numbers.

Dang skippy. I don't know anyone in my phone book that wasn't loaded with tomatoes last year. I gave away so many it was sickening. During the peak I was giving away 2 or 3 milk crates per day to people I really didn't even like. I'm planting next week, I just can't decide if I'm going to cut back or get bigger. I'd like to cut back, but damn a gigantic pile of tomatoes just gets me excited for some reason. It's just like when you pull up a hoop net and there are 300 blue cats in it. At first you're "aw hell yeah", then you come down from the excitement and say "what the hell am I gonna do with all of these?"

I've made a goal to learn as much as possible about farming corn and wheat through the internet.

My MIL has about 130 acres that have cattle grazing on it but would love to plant it in corn

I'm probably gonna start my baby backyard garden here soon, not sure what I'm gonna plant just yet.

Maters and cucumbers is all I know for sure right now.

I know enough people with backyard gardens that give me vegetables that it would be a waste to plant one

Yep. January 1, 2012 I picked up 7 nets. 4 didn't catch a fish. 2 had about 20 each in them, and the last one had 320 fish in it. Cold as hell, with 2 of my daughters with me (and my father). Told my wife I was just leaving to go help my dad and wouldn't be long returning. I showed up many hours late, with 2 little girls covered in slime and mud, with I can't remember how many pounds of fillets.

Side note: Wick, you've got mail.

I plant a couple different kinds. I usually have a good many of the ole' standard Celebrity, Better Boy, and Creoles. The last 2 years I've had really good success with Better Bush. They make a shiteload of tomatoes at my place and they are all big, beautiful, good tasting fruit. One of my dad's buddies is a big-time farmer and last year gave me 20-something Early Pick plants he grew from seed. They make a massive 2-3 lb tomato, that's ugly as hell, but tastes fantastic. I also plant a row of Romas for canning and cooking.

Family wide?

about 3000 acres. About half in sugar cane. The rest is rotated between soybeans and wheat. Its all leased out to my cousins. I should have taken it over, but I was sick of farming. Now they make bank and I go punch a clock everyday.
