I have no idea if there is a wanton waste law that pertains to fish where they are, but I hope there is. If not, I'm sure there is something they could do since the tournament is his responsibility. I'd be livid if that was my home lake/river/camp and a tournament left floaters all over as they travel to their next site.
People who waste wild game are scum of the earth. Right below theives.
But evidently, you disagree.

And the state limit is 50. I can't believe anyone commented on this at all. If these guys were just fishing instead of tournament fishing, the death toll would have been WAY higher.

There are no wanton waste laws in Louisiana as far as I know which is a shame.

I’d like to know where these white perch were caught. I’m planning a trip to the camp in a week or two.

Where did I say I disagree? You said he should have been given a ticket, as the organizer of a tournament where some fish were killed.

I simply asked you what law he was breaking. Evidently, none.

Yes, this is in bad taste and things could have been handled better.
They could have allowed the anglers to take the fish home or donate them to a food shelter.

am still waiting for someone to explain how this is against the law. And how it is the responsibility of the guy who organized the tournament.

Like ducks killed. All.kuat be tagged before giving to another person, even if it's the cleaning lady. If she throws em out, its waste. If she has untangled, shes fined.
Why is fish different. You catch your limit, they should remain your responsibility.
Why theo em away. Hand them back to the fishermen!

No. It seems like you were doing that. Thumping your chest and saying a guy should be ticketed for breaking a law that doesn't exist.

Well then what if you're over a limit in a live well?

And those were dead being thrown back.

Another question....if they are throwing them back, dies the guy scooping em up have to abide by limit and licensing rules?

The tourney had a 7 fish limit. The creek limit is 50 lol.

The TD should collect all dead fish.

My apologies, didn't realize I was the only person here that got my panties in a bunch about a bunch of professional fishermen wasting fish.

Bag limits still apply, legally. Depends on which green jeans you get as to what would happen next.

I’ve never understood most fishing tournaments period. I fish to relax and enjoy being on the water with my kids and friends, and sometimes bringing a few home to eat. I’ve never gotten the itch to go fish a silly bass tournament for a $1000 pay out.
Redfish tourney guys are the worst and they have no respect for recreational fisherman. Not to mention they rip up the marsh and fish when 'scouting'.

We have had a fishing camp (nothing fancy) on D'arbonne since I was a toddler, for years you could fish all day and hardly ever see another boat.

I hate seeing this mess up there.

Bottom line is crappie are fickle as fish get, when you pull them from deep water, place in a live well and haul them around they will die. Only solution is catch weigh release but that takes all the drama out of it.

They should just put them on ice and have a fish fry at the end of the day.
