I have a kml file with all of the rigs and removed rigs, also a bunch of reefs. It's so many that I cannot decide which ones to try. Anyone have any tips?

Just ride around and try them. Only real tip I have is they aren't always deep and they aren't always right against the rig. If you're catching small ones, try shallower in the same spot. If you aren't catching any, back off another 20 yards and try again.

Eta: every minute you spend boat riding is one less minute you spend fishing and they aren't jumping in the boat while you're riding. The next rig is always farther than it looks. Don't let the loop enforcer get you.

Right, just trying to narrow down which ones to target first so I'm not wasting my time. Thanks.

Big baits whole live hard tail big. Buddy of mine who dove said when you watch a school the small fish run up first and smash the pogey or squid but when you drop a big bait the 14-18in fish don’t hit it and it gives time for ol pawpaw to come in and eat it.
A lot of the spots that are fished every day are not fished with big baits and hold big fish.
Also fish the up current side of the platform it’s a pita to hold the boat in position but it pays off.

I leave the pass with a defined game plan and it's usually blown to shite before I even get to the first stop.

Just point the boat out and go. If there is a real science to this, I haven't figured it out yet. Get lucky and stop at the rig that hasn't been hammered, or find a nice secret underwater structure.

It won't be a secret for long though. If you hold a spot and start fishing, people will come ride right up on top of you and mark their GPS and then take off again. Damn frustrating, but snapper being open only on the weekends makes it unavoidable unless you have enough boat to get out past the riff raff.

Right. Ive barely been able to fish it and I have a bay boat so it has really put a limit on when I can go. 7 days a week makes it possible. We will see what happens. I have spot lock and was planning to position ahead of the rigs. I guess I will see how it looks while fishing trout Saturday AM near the beaches then make a final decision.

Good ol government changes the rules more than I change my drawers.

Makes it much easier to hit a weather window. Although I anticipate it closing earlier than the last couple of years.

Maybe, until it closes after July 4th weekend when they magically decide we've caught the quota in a little over a month.

I went to G I a few times with a guide,we only went out a few miles and caught Mangrove snappers.I like it better than the long rides out to fish for Red snappers.
I thought the Mangroves were better eating, also.

Bring a pitch rod in case you see a cobia and a small bat in case you catch a cobia and actually get it in your boat.

We would chum the mangroves slow and get them frenzied.

When one would take a dump and leave that cloud we would throw into it. Hook up every time. We would put a squid on the hook first, then a chunk og pogey to hide a short shanked hook. Then we would wrap the tentacle around the pogey to hold it. They bought it.

I would stowaway on one of Charlie Hardison”s boats regularly when I was in college. I knew the Captains and Mr Charlie. My self and a buddy would fish mangroves of of the bow. We would catch as many as we could because we had lots of folks on board.
