If you want speed, why not go deck boat?

Going over 30 mph on a pontoon seems crazy to me, go over the wrong wave or have too much weight up front and those things will dive under with an inexperienced driver which is what most pontoon boat owners are.

Deck boats aren’t nearly as nice for standing around and hanging out. Not nearly as sturdy or high as sides

Especially for kids

What? My parents had a Lowe's deck boat like 15 years ago so its been awhile, but it was literally a boat hull with a flat top and a pontoon layout on top. like this:

That is not what 99% of deck boats look like though, nor what people will think when you say deck boat

Certainly, but most people also don't have 200+ HP on their pontoon. Even the one you pictured is a hell of a lot safer with a big HP motor on it to go fast, tube, ski, etc.

It just seems like a bad idea to have a pontoon boat go that fast in my experience with pontoon boats is all. If you want speed you have to give something up.

My buddy has one with twin 300s.

It honestly isn't fun.

A pontoon on plane at 55 is about as sketchy as it can get

We are talking probably $75k boat here right? $45k in motors, at least $25-30k in the boat, and then I'm assuming anyone that is dropping 600hp on a boat is going to have some other electronics they never need?

There was absolutely zero funtional additions to the more expensive brands. And for a boat that will have kids eating and running around, and adults drinking on, it just made no sense

3 pontoons, larger pontoons, lifting strakes, solid keels, lots of performance additions for premium pontoons.

The owner of my company gave me a chili recipe this past winter, he then tells me "it's really good when you sub all the meat with filet"

But if have a boat with 900hp it better do more than 60mph.

I just didnt see any "performance additions" that seemed meaningful

The difference in price seemed to be finishes, which I will admit the higher end pontoon boats do feel "nicer" for sure

If you just have money to spend I would go ahead and get it, but otherwise I dont think the money goes towards a meaningful upgrade

Just ones man opinion though

W. T . F.? How fast does a pontoon boat go with 1 300hp motor? I would think 1 300 would make them fast as hell, how is 900hp even possible?

Also, how does all that weight on the back not make the bow stick up a lot?

Here's my big question, every single pontoon I've ever been on turns like dog crap and more importantly any decent way makes the bow dive or comes through the boat. Would you not have to slow down to under 20 mph for every boat wake you went through?
