Well good thing that wasn't an emotional freak out or anything because if it was it might have proven my point about that whole emotional attachment trumping logic thing.

I think the love for 1911s stem from the single action philosophy. It's ballsy to me, but if you've practiced with it and feel comfortable in condition 1 then more power to you. It's an accepted liability and I think it's cool to trust your weapon that much.

I wanted a DAO pistol, but I felt the need for hammer albeit bobbed.

Good thing you're either illiterate or can't counter my points.

Maybe, but it was like 3 or 4 in the morning, I couldn't sleep, and those last two posts of his just pissed me off for some reason.

I wonder why there aren't a bunch of 1911 torture tests on the internet like there are for striker fired pistols?

3:50 Mark is interesting.

Like one of the top comments shows, I wonder why he's choosing a target line for his little test instead of a model built for combat, self-defense, etc?

The only thing that's interesting is how those two idiots fail to comprehend that 1911's come in a variety of flavors.

I wonder why there aren't a bunch of striker fired pistols deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq, and countless other locations around the world right now? And if you want to mention Berettas or Sigs I'm talking about true striker fired systems, which lack external hammers.

Would the US even consider the Glock since it doesn't have additional safeties? Seems like that would be more of a reason that it isn't being used overseas.

I wonder if it has something do to with the polymer frame.

But then again, some of the HKs that other forces use have polymer frames. I'm thinking it may be due to the striker-fired system. Everything else they use is hammer fired.

LOL What?
THE best private contractor teams in those areas named shoot Glocks exclusively? Ex Delta/Seals tasked with protecting US Diplomats.

THE best Spec Ops teams use 1911's and that includes Delta, DEVGRU, MARSOC, etc. You know, guys that are actually tasked with seeking out and killing the enemy in direct action operations.

And when they get out....they switch to Glocks.
Thanks for making my point.

And if you don't think the former military guys protecting the diplomats, Senators, and Presidents over there are not shooters....you are crazy.

Spec Ops teams get to choose what they carry, they're not grunts who are stuck with what they're issued. So you haven't made a point. In fact various military rearmament programs have been introduced specifically because of the call from the Spec Ops community for a 1911 option. Just look at the MEUSOC 1911.

I never said they weren't. Try to stay on track.

Hahahah! My brother was one of the Seals that was on the testing project in the nineties for what they'd be using handgun wise. Torture tests galore.

It goes like this.

Revolver
Glock
other loose tolerance polymers
1911

If you seriously believe you aren't making this decision based on emotion you're deluded.

And no I'm not going to bother writing a dissertation to explain why you're wrong. If you don't grasp that 18>9 and don't believe the torture tests when they've been done ad nauseum for decades, there's no amount of proof going to penetrate that level of denial. I can probably make my point a lot easier by just spinning you up till your head explodes and see if you get it then.
