What's the current law on cans(suppressors)?

Had a customer the other day that had a suppressed honey badger. I commented on the gun having seen it on YouTube and he showed me 8 or 9 of his collection. I was envious.
Lots of custom barrels and grips. I tried to buy his 43x with the threaded barrel but he wouldn't sell. Anyway he told me that now you don't need a tax stamp or special paperwork for the cans.
I didn't know that. He also had some 3 shot stuff but no full so l auto I don't think.
But I kind of always wanted a can I don't know why. Same reason so many others buy guns. Because it's cool.
Anyway it's that right do I just get one like buying any other gun?

I bought mine a couple of months ago in Louisiana and it was 7-10days with a “free stamp”so my only cost was the cost of the can. A couple of weeks ago the new rule passed and it’s just like buying a gun supposedly. A few of the stores i follow were not making the transfers without the “stamp” because of the confusion across state lines.
Either way it’s easier than ever to buy one and no reason to not have one ore more I will get a 22 next and another center fire soon.

Can walk in Louisiana Firearms and buy one no extra costs. No trust necessary. Got me a little sparrow .22 for my ruger 10/22.

Some stores are selling with background check only and some still require Form 4. My concern is buying on 4473 is democrats get back in office and ATF starts door knocking like they did with rare breed triggers.

If i were buying one today I would still do the trust/stamp route. Stamp is $0 and trust is cheap. The "no extra stuff necessary" thing needs to be codified for me to be comfy with it.

Just bought a YHM Resonator R2 from a pawn shop in Arkansas on a 4473. In and out in less than 10 minutes

Are yall not worrying about toting around a copy of the stamp with the can anymore? Can let anybody borrow one without being on the trust? How's that work now?
Ive never been checked by the law while I had a suppressor in my possession so I dont know how it worked in the first place but I was always careful to keep it with someone who legally owned it with a copy of the stamp.

It’s perfectly “currently” legal to get one with a 4473, if you’re a GOA member and the store front is a silencerco dealer. Think I nailed all that…
But! A friend that’s a FFL dealer informed me that you cannot hunt in La with a can that you got without a tax stamp. That is true, look it up.
I won’t get another till we get clarity on this bs.

I’ve always saved the pdf of the stamp and email from the ATF to my books app on the phone. Easy to pull up if law enforcement ever asks.

Thats what I do as well. Just curious on the legalities of toting around a can that doesnt have a stamp tied to it.
Like I said, i personally am not altering my actions regarding purchasing or using them. The stamps free and the trust is already there so theres no reason for me to do otherwise. It would be nice if I could let other people borrow them without them going through adding to the trust.
