They have two tournaments this weekend

Bass Elite

MLF Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit

You have the big name fisherman moving back and forth between the leagues, half fishing one or the other.

Which one is the top or pros ? It's so confusing ?

Plus the last few years the MLF had 3 days coverage which was great for us working at home people, I haven't seen it this year.

Looks like the MLF lost some big names who went back to BASS or some such

In short, it’s a shite show. Several years back, the inmates thought they could do a better job running the asylum. As usual, that ended up creating animals that were more equal than other animals.

bbcboards.net is a good place to search for more details about the drama.

Streaming BASS today starting at 8 am

I like Hackney, he's flipping a rage bug on cypress trees.

MLF has the BPT, which is their highest level. That’s where guys like KVD, Evers, Wheeler, and such are fishing. They kick off in a couple weeks. They fish the catch, weigh, release format and every fish over 2 pounds counts. They use this to qualify for the cup events, but the cups are secondary to the BPT.

The MLF Pro Circuit is what used to be the FLW Tour. Almost all of the top level guys are gone from it, and now it’s pretty much a glorified Triple A league. They are using it as a qualifier for the BPT, but they fish a best 5 format. A good bit of the top guys from here joined BASS after the mass exodus for the BPT.

Then you have B.A.S.S. Nearly all of the top level guys left a few years ago when Duckett and Klein started the BPT because they felt like as anglers the organization wasn’t looking out for them. Some big names have since left BPT and gone back to BASS because they prefer the 5 fish format. Guys like Hackney, Swindle, Christie, Palanuik have all left the BPT and rejoined the Elite series. There are a few other guys still looking to do that.

They're all begging me to join their circuit - they're looking for greater credibility.

Its not the shine thats wearing off. Its the money.

Big promises. Now they are not delivering. Look for more of the anglers there to work their way back to BASS.

FlW has always been a side show. Since they bought MLF, it is now falling apart

BASS is and will always be the #1 show in professional BASS fishing

Didn’t MLF buy FLW?

A lot of the anglers have an ownership stake in MLF. That was one of the draws of MLF in the beginning.

MLF honestly had a decent idea to begin with. Execution has been an issue here and there. And like others have stated, the shine of MLF has started to wear.

I remember hearing interviews with some of the BASS people and feeling kind of sorry for them. Quickly got the impression that there just wasn’t that much money in the game, and the anglers wanted something that didn’t exist. I’m pretty into pro fishing and barely have time to tune in to either, some of the anglers talked like they were gonna compete with major sports for airtime.

The biggest names with most of the skins on the wall are with MLF./BPT. I like the format better with that group. MLF bought the FLW Tour and incorporated it into their organization. It’s still Best 5 though and some of the BPT stars will fish both A few big names have trickled back to BASS Elites and it’s helped the credibility of that tour immediately getting a good blend of old vets and bunch of new guns. As always after all the bills are paid only the top 30 or so sponsored angles make any money. Tough life but it’s better than working .

Free Tournament entry was the biggest draw for a lot of them.

Yes. My statement was backwards. They are all in the same now. MLF changed a bunch of their promises when they acquired FLW. This is why you see guys like Jacob Powroznik, Greg Hackney and Ike getting out.

More will follow.
