What size pot for white beans

I got to cook pastalaya and white beans for a camp meeting this weekend and i need to know what size pot i need to cook around 8 lbs. of white beans.. I posted on the food board but they are slow to answer and im standing here looking at pots...TIA

Its white beans. Any metalic container that can hold 8 pounds of white beans will work.

You're going to need a big gumbo/magnalite style pot

Any pot over 20 qts; a turkey-fryer pot would do.

That would be a problem at my place too because the gumbo pot is 12 quarts and the next size up is a 60 quart crab pot.

8lbs or beans is enough to feed like 60-70 ppl
you sure you need 8lbs?

Late, I know, but may help someone else.

Great northerns (my favorite “white” bean) is about 2 cups per pound. After cooking, with gravy, whatever meat you put, etc, it can get up to around 8 cups. Of course, it could be more, but that is largely dependent on how crazy you get with add ins and how much gravy you like vs beans.

So on something like this, you are looking around 64 cups of beans, or 16 quarts. You don’t want it to the top, so as previously mentioned by many on this thread, a 20 quart pot is likely your best bet.

Just thought some may like to see actual numbers to convert for different amounts of beans.
