I have shot Kent 3" 1 1/8 oz. 3's for about 10 years now. They kill all the ducks I need to.

I have tired all the other new stuff and I haven't found it worth the extra cost, ESP black clouds, I am not sure there is a worse shell out there IMO.

If on a straight goose hunt, I have winchester high velocity 10 ga BB.

Black Cloud isn't worth the money.

I usually go with Kent Fasteel or Xpert HiV

BLIND SIDE, got em for a steal on midway usa.

shot a few at some clays, turned em into dust...black clouds broke the clays up nothing like the blind side. Cant wait to bust some feathers with em

I bought some last year and it just seemed like I couldn't kill a duck with them. Went back to the old Estate steel and started knocking them down.

I will say the only thing I don't like to shoot is winchester xpert steel. We cut open an xpert, black cloud, kent, and a drylock. Xperts look like they're full of welding slag. All the rest had uniform round pellets. The kent and drylock looked like virtually the same shell on the inside.

The cheapest 3" #2 shot they got. I dont have to shoot supersonicultraspeedtungstentitanium at dem ducks to hit em.

thats why I shoot Xpert. ~$9/box at walmarks

Agreed. Gun: $1,300 but i'll shoot the cheapest stuff I can find bc it still kills ducks. yes Xpert can appear to be welding slag if cut open, I've gone through enough cases of it and killed hundreds of ducks with it to know it doesn't matter when shooting birds at reasonable ranges. As for Black Cloud and Blind Side: from a ballistics/"punch"/knockdown power perspective, it's still ordinary steel, no matter what silly shape they want to put it in. I've found pieces of the "razor edge" black cloud pellets in birds and believe me it was far from sharp on the edges. I buy my shells in the offseason from www.rogerssportinggoods.com and don't pay tax or shipping. Keep an eye out for deals there, no matter what shells you prefer. Getting fancy with shells is great and all if you hunt a couple days a season but when you hunt 4-5 days a week it gets expensive.

I have experimented in the past with all sorts of shells, but I have found that consistency in your shells is far more important than what it is. I use Kent's now (best bang for your buck IMO). The varying exit velocities and all that affect your lead, pattern, and if anything, your psych. If you stick with one load, you'll 'learn' how to shoot with it.
