Looks like a pine tree attacked it

Bobcat probably found it, ate a little bit, then cached it for later
Put a camera on it. Guarantee it's a bobcat

Was just about to post this. Had a similar experience with a doe I shot. Couldn't find it the evening I shot. Next morning went look, spotted a bobcat going down the trail to where I had shot. Ran it off. Found it buried under pine needles with a small chunk taken out of a hind quarter.

Is it an illegal deer?
Interesting about the bobcat comments.
Whats the story here?

Bobcat didn't kill it. Probably gut shot deer that ran off and died

Not real sure, happened at my buddies, definitely a legal deer and no reason for a human to do that
No one at his place shot and missed or wounded recently but
Was found close to the road so could of been wounded in neighboring place or hit by car. The left rear leg was “gimped” according to my friend which matches his antlers

Right now the bobcat theory is what we are thinking

Bobcat. Buddy shot a doe with a bow. He gets down 45 minutes later and a cat had already covered it up.
