I tend to agree with you. Collared with a tag, they attempt to notify the owner. Obvious strays, they get a few days to be adopted.

I love dogs but am financially a staunch conservative. I despise the way the system burns our tax dollars, but I'd rather them crack down on prison spending and entitlements first.

Dogs: I have had dogs my entire life. I like dogs. I do not think a dog should sit in a shelter for an extended period of time waiting on an adoption. I also don't think public funds should be used for such. I know it's a nominal amount of money, but I would rather that little bit be reallocated. It isn't penalizing the dog, as I don't think they are capable of understanding it. It's more of a way to make owners accountable.

Cats: I would be willing to bet every cat in a shelter could evaporate tomorrow and in 3 months all the shelters would be full again. I say sell them to China, or to Grand Isle marinas as bait. You know a big ole Warsaw would hammer a whole cat at 300 ft.

We kill cows, chickens, pigs, ducks, horses, and everything else with no regard for their feelings. Why? Because they have none. What's the difference with dogs and cats? I'm not killing my neighbor's dog, or a one in someone's yard. I'm talking about strays. Take care of your beagle and you have nothing to worry about. If you lose him make sure to go to a shelter looking for him within a week like a normal human would and you won't have to explain his absence to Jr.

Don't most animals in shelters get put down anyway. No point in prolonging it. I don't like killing pets either, it wasn't their fault they had shitty owners. But it's reality that they get put down anyway.

I never really thought much about the incinerators until I saw the big crate of old collars next too it. Kind of bothered mehow much death had taken right there.

I'm not big on mass executions either. But what's the difference if they sit in the pen for a few weeks or end it early. Got mixed feelings on it.
