What did one of your pets do to make you laugh?

The pending crane fly invasion reminded me of this.

We had a tom cat years ago. One spring when the June Bugs were out he decided to feast on them. He was standing and picking them up with his paw and stuffing his face. He must has ate about 15 or 20 before he had his fill and then plopped on his side like an Imperial Walker struck by an X-Wing Fighter. I still laugh when I think of that old boy. He was one cool cat. We had him for almost 18 years.

One of ours spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to fit a 10 lb watermelon in his mouth.

My wife called me one morning frantic because the same dog had gotten out of the yard. Turns out he had jumped into the compost ring behind the shed and couldn't figure out how to jump back out.

One of these

We moved out to 20 acres a couple of years ago, deer all over the place. My GSP had of course never seen a deer, so he chases them like crazy now. The chasing is funny because you can always tell when he comes across one in the woods, his bark gets super high pitched. Then they come running.

The really funny part is, he apparently took notes on how the deer run, and bound away. So now when we play fetch or anything, he frolicks like a deer. Bounds straight up in the air like Bambi running through a field

Some friends and I were hunting in the marsh with my older dog probably 7 years ago. We shot a bird right after shooting time and it fell probably 10 yards from our hide across this little ditch. I sent the dog and she couldn't come up with the bird. She was in her prime and this was totally abnormal for her - she would maybe lose 1-2 birds a year. It was early and we couldn't see really well, so we figured the bird dove and died under water in the grass, and decided to go look for it after we were one short of our limit.

We got to the end of the hunt and the three of us paddled across the ditch with the dog to find the bird. She hunts a little bit and starts going absolutely batshit crazy and digging into the mud right by the bank. We are 100% certain at this point that she's on the bird and so we start trying to help her dig into the grass, pulling grass out of the way, egging her on, good dog, hunt it up, etc. After about 2-3 minutes of this exercise, she jams her face into the mud up to her collar and comes out with a fully alive and squeaking harvest mouse. She was prouder of that mouse than I think I've ever seen her with any bird. We still tell that story often and will long after she's gone.

My young pup is only 8 months old, but I walked outside on the back porch a few days ago and she was blowing bubbles in her water bowl and then attacking them. I got a kick out of that. She is also an absolute menace to spiders and mosquito hawks and will jump into the air with all fours off of the ground to try to catch mosquito hawks with her mouth.

If there was thunder or fireworks anywhere in the Atlanta metro area, our Aussie would run to the half-bath, go in, and close the door behind her. After a while, she would bump the door with her nose to pop it open, and then stick her head out and look left, then right. If it looked safe, she'd come out and rejoin the family.

I have a red jagd terrier about 2 years old named Emma. Amazing little dog. She retrieves ducks. Recovers deer. Squirrel hunter extraordinaire.
I got my taxidermy mount a couple of weeks ago. I hung it in my room. She comes down the hall and see’s this pronghorn staring at her. She freaked out. Her little legs went a hundred miles an hour on the hardwood floor. She couldn’t go after it, nor could she get away from it.
Now when she comes down the hall I ask her if that “booger” is going to get her and she acts all bad arse.

That young setter pup I raised last year was on his second or third hunt ever this past season when we came upon a small pond. We head that way to water the dogs, and as he gets about 20 yards from the bank a killdeer takes off whistling about 2 feet above the water.

His instinct gear kicks into super overdrive, and he fires off like a bullet after it. It looked like he walked on water because he literally made it about halfway across this small pond before physics took over and his feet caught. He looked like a barefoot skier that finally catches the water wrong and slammed himself with about 3 rolls into the tank.

Arnie playing tug of war with my son's Husky, Bane.

When those two start playing they are more entertaining than any show on TV.

140# Rott, dad tossed a pot of collars and ham hocks in the woods one afternoon and he found them. He cleaned them up and was full as a tick. Later every step he let out a whistle. Dude loved mcdonalds fries and we made plenty trips to the drive through, the workers never appreciated his love for them.

Friend of ours has an anatolian mix breed with lop sided ears. They bring it over to play with our goldens and the first day it was here, they were doing the play then pause, then play again. Well the anatolian paused and as soon as it went to take off again it ran 3' straight into the horse fence around my property.

When my golden was a puppy, it was a bit skiddish and it had gassy diarrhea. Well every time she would go to take a crap, she would have a fart and the fart caused her to shite while running away from the fart.

I had a great Dane that was absolutely fearless and an amazing guard dog. He kept us safe for 11 great years. He did have one chink in his armor though. He was deathly afraid of his own farts! LOL

He would freak out looking for our help when he would fart. He didn't understand how something invisible could creek up on him and make a noise I guess.

My mid size super athletic dog Molly will occasionally screw up her jump on to the couch when running to it from the side & smash into the side of it knocking her to the ground. My other smaller dog Max looks at her like "What are you? Stupid or something?"

I've trained Arnie, my 13" beagle, to blood track deer. Shot one a couple seasons ago and got him to do the track (for some real life training. I could see where it fell). When he got to the buck he immediately started raking dirt on the deer. I told him, "You're going to be there a while, boy." I still laugh at him trying to bury that deer carcass with his nose.

I have video of it. If I figure out how to post it, I will.
