The most effective thing I've ever seen on those disinterested gals is to pitch something you can see in the bed and never move it. At some point, and it may take a while, the lure is simply a foreign body that she must remove. You just have to make sure the hook is in a place where she will get hooked.

You def have to park it on the nest to get her to bite/pick it up, if they're not feeding at the time. Chris lane swears every nest has a spot about the size of a quarter that they will always pick it up

Finicky female on a bed? Get largest brightest colored hollow jig you have, stuff crushed alka seltzer tablets or Pop Rocks (I like strawberry)...Stuff cotton ball on backside of pop rocks, nice and tight....Pitch in to bed...When fizz starts, she WILL pick it up to move it off her bed...BOOM...DONE! Done it 5 or 6 times on Lake Fork and it worked everytime...We chunked at a 9lber we thought was at least a 12lber for over an hour with tiki snakes and everything else you could imagine...pop rocks = $

not the first time i've heard this...haven't gotten a chance to try it yet, def will during the spawn next year.

the toughest thing for me to do is be patient, not the weirdest but maybe the hardest way ive caught them was simply throwing a senko out and having to let it sit on the bottom for up to 2 minutes at a time

Not a fluke but a buzz bait. Mid-summer mid day around lilly pads. If you throw it they will come.

That sounds pretty legit. I'll keep that in mind.

This is gonna be kind of long.

Was fishing in the Calcesieu River one day with my dad a day after it had rained A LOT. Water was muddy, muddy and we had fished for about 2 hours without a bite.

I had some Gene Larew Craw worms that were a really bright purple junebug with chartreuse pincers. My thinking was they'll e able to see this mother fricker in the muddy water.

Well anyways I throw it for about 20-30 minutes and still no bites. My dad tells me to throw up beside this set of cypress knees, and I frick up the cast. I start reeling in real fast and it gets about three feet off the bank and one drills it!

We ended up limiting out on those craw worms throwing them Texas rigged and just reeling them straight in; no popping, twitching, or anything. That was probably the strangest way I've caught a lot of bass before.

The two biggest bass I have caught on a fluke (both 5+) have been caught after I back-lashed the hell out of my reel on a cast and the fluke was just sitting on the bottom for a long period of time, 2-3 minutes at least. As soon as I started to reel in, the fish hit it.

The backlash bite. I first discovered it when Slugos came out. Around Bug island specifically.

I learned the do nothing approach the same way when I first started using the baitcasters. Floating bubble gum worm, big backlash, several minutes later the line would start a to move.

Weightless Yamamoto Kut-Tail worm nose hooked on ML 7' rod. I have this rig ready to throw at all times, all year (although it excels in warm months). So far big is 9.7 lbs. on it. Talk about fun - even smaller fish.

Bed fishing the bass has a favorite spot it likes to set in. Take a lizard that your can see and get it as close to the fish as you can and pop it with your weight. Don't try to knock the shite out of it but enough to make it move. The bass will get pissed off and attack your lure.

I'm not gonna tell my super shallow summer tactics.

I figured it out when the nose of my fluke broke through and the hook was only coming through the back of the bait.

Sure enough, BOOM. A decent bass busted it on the way back in. I said,"No way, I gotta try that again..."

It worked. How often do you think they see that technique?
