Went to the camp and caught a few bass, but my weekend has been over for 2 days now.

My weekend results:

Just worked on building up the garden and getting it ready for planting. Was too tired to do anything else after that. But at least that's done. Sequence of pictures here.

Went to the camp this morning and fished from 7:30-noon. 7 nice bass, 11 huge sacalait and a catfish. There is nothing that tastes better than fresh fried sacalait.

I got 120 feet of post set for my new catch pen. One step closer to having my set up for cattle. Did some trailer selling and buying. Came out ahead and couldn't be happier. Got a new ( to me) 24' cattle trailer in great shape. Lost my arse selling 4-H pigs on Saturday. Buy them for 450 each as 35lb piglets and sold them at 230lbs for 375 each. I'm done with show pigs.

My hero as a child and forever was laid to rest on Monday. A great man that taught me so much. Was like a grandfather to me and one hell of a Man. A cowboy, a hunter and a character. For years he'd always be good for at least one buck over 20" wide. Lived 92 years, married for 69 years, a Navy veteran, man of God, and my hero. Went to tend the herds for the good Lord and make sure there was always fresh vegetables and plenty of jokes. I cry every time I think of him and I'm proud of that.

Sorry for your loss. I know just the kind of man you're talking about, and there's not many like him left.

My weekend consisted of catching 50 sacacrappie (white perch to me), a crawfish boil to send my nephew off to the Navy, and a last gasp squirrel hunt on Sunday that produced none.
Think I may join the crowds at Toledo this weekend.
This was my half:

Id pay someone to go catch some sacalait like that, good lord. Ill trade some speckle trout trips too

I just have zero knowledge on how to fish them, I hear you have to grow up doing to figure them out. A lot like trout.

If I knew when it was going to happen, I'd take more people. I zero too often for that.

I pretty much switched from bass to these about 5 years ago or so. It has been a tough road. If one of our other members doesn't take me in the summer, I am done by May.

Wrong ... I decided at 45 to put in the time to figure them out. Six years later I'm not accomplished in all phases, but do pretty good most times. They are definitely spot oriented, but once you start figuring them out, you will get proficient.
Also, everyone has their favorite ways to catch them, and there are several.

River should be good toward the end of the month. I've been locked out of the private lake, and only get to go when I take one of the owners.

We'll schedule a trip soon. If we don't get huge rains this spring the Red fishing will be bigly!
