Can't eat a horn unless you're a queer.

That little one is going to be some fine eating. Good job, OP.

OP, there are a lot of no sayers. Screw them. Fresh meat is a win win.

Didn't do a thing other then burning up my POS Toro lawn mower. Was cutting Saturday morning, about an hour in, I got the oil light warning light came on. Checked the oil level before starting it. Drove it to the carport. When I shut it down, smoke poured out everywhere. Before I knew it, every wire was burnt up. I was like WTF? An hour latter after ripping every wire out, some jerry rigging, I fired that sucker off and completely cut the yard. 15 minutes after finishing, the rain started.

I'll never give a man a hard time about a legal kill, especially without knowing the full story (first deer?, public?, herd management?, etc.). Congrats!

Not an advocate of shooting yearlings or anything, but we had a guy at the camp a while back who had never really hunted. Shot his first doe and to his credit, he was in a very tall box stand with a very long food plot. So being his first deer, I can understand his difficulty in judging size. His deer made the OP's look big. We marinated the whole thing and smoked it on the pit. It was pretty damned good.

In the old days, the old men of the camp would sent out the young guys to go make some camp meat. If they came back with a big deer, those old guys would be pissed. They wanted something that would cook in one big pot.

+1000000 You hunt how you wanna hunt, they can hunt how they want to. I hunt for meat first, trophies second. Even then, a trophy is more than the bone on a deer's head. Some of my toughest kills have been less than stellar racks.

You killed two bucks with one point between em, that is worth noting.

I must admit I shot a button two years ago, but it was damn near Feb in Texas....I thought it was a doe and yearling...it was two yearlings.
