Looking for recommendations for a water front cabin rental within driving distance from south Louisiana for a quick bass fishing trip during the Easter holiday. Either MS or LA will work.

I know what Toledo has to offer and thats definitely a possibility, just looking for other ideas where we can catch.

What ya got?

Paloma Lake in Braithwaite. Not nearly as pretty as some other spots like Toledo, but some decent fish can be caught.

I have seen that place. Passed it one time and never knew it existed. Surprised the hell out of me to see it down there.

Guess I should have clarified that I will be bringing a boat along however.

If you rent a cabin at South Toledo State Park, bring something to supplement those mattresses. I may have been better off on the damn floor.

I stay at North TB state park for a week every 3 months and I never noticed them being that bad. I do usually get pass-out drunk most nights, so that might help.

Check VRBO or Zillow for lake bruin houses for rent. But most families use their place that weekend for get togethers...but worth a shot

Trust me I've looked but the wife wants a cabin on the water for some scenery while we are out fishing. Dosent look like there is much scenery around there.

.
I camped up there many years ago. Back then, only trolling motors were allowed.

I fished for a while the first afternoon, but did not catch anything. I talked to a ranger and was told to troll right down the middle of the lake. There is an old creek bed there. The next day I fish the middle and caught several Sac-O-ley. Later in the day, I went out again knowing where to fish and caught about 8 more with most of them about 1.25 lbs.

Had a fish fry and had enough to give some to folks camping next to us.
We went back a couple of years later and all I caught were barely hand size. Ranger told me the lake had been drained that winter to do some work.

Very relaxing and well kept park.

I don't think you were at Lake Chicot baw. It's a gigantic oxbow lake in Lake Village AR. The entire thing is an "old creek bed" from the Mississippi river creek. Trying to fish it trolling motor only would be pretty interesting

Caney lake. Has cabins on water. Is small enough to cover in a few days. Can fish any way you like. Shallow, offshore, etc.

Sam Rayburn has recently redone cabins on the water, and a nice park area with restaurants.

ETA: In Texas, sorry I'm a dumbass. But still nice though, and they have a golf course!
