I will agree to disagree on that one. If the friction rings are set right, I find them to be one of the softest shooting shotguns ever made.
This.
With the rings correct and the right load they don’t really kick at all.
Unfortunately most people don’t know how to set the rings.

Bump, does anyone know of a reputable online shop that might have one of these?

Art’s Gun Shop.
But you’re going to pay through the nose.
Just keep an eye on Gunbroker and look at Guns International. Be patient and one will come along. I found one online and got it relatively inexpensive because it had a bent rib. I bought a rib-fixer tool for $20 and fixed it. It shoots like a champ.
I’m looking for a 20 right now, but even the beaters are commanding $1,500 it seems.

Great information , thanks. I started shooting my grandmothers Sweet 16 when I was 15. Never thought it kicked much. The serial # is S 57XXX, and she told me she bought before I was born(1959). This gun must have been manufactured in 1957. Grandmother left the gun to me and is greatly treasured.

If you want to hunt a lot with it, I’d definitely consider the Japanese model. Less collectible, cost less.

I am actually considering an older light 12. Easier to find ammo and cheaper. Not sure on the quality of these however. I’d have to assume they are similar to the sweet 16.

I inherited one from my dad. It's a two barrel sweet 16 with 26 IC and 28 ful barrels he bought new after returning from WW2. This gun has a small crack in the forearm and is otherwise 98 percent condition so be sure and check the wood closely if you buy a Belgium gun. Otherwise, it's as great a shooting shotgun as I've ever owned and I quail hunt with it yearly.

Ended up picking up a 1992 Japanese Sweet 16 has some wear on it, but I plan on using it myself. Couldnt be happier with the price either.

How tough is it to find 16 gauge shells now?

Cabelas in Gonzales had a couple, not sure if they were Belgian or Japanese….
