Venice Marina has announced it’s shutting down until further notice. You can get fuel with swipe on pump, but that’s it...not even the bathrooms are open.

Coronavirus edict or lack of business which could be one in the same?
Posted on 3/30/20 at 11:53 am to aTmTexas Dillo
The live streaming video of the docks this weekend showed no lack of business.

That live video said subscription required or some shite last time I tried to lurk...

I was trying to show that to someone last Thursday, but they had already removed the Lice cam from the website. I checked this weekend again and it was still removed.

Lots of $750,000 Freeman’s are going to hit the default button if this hoax doesn’t end soon. Lost income can never be made up and sba loans are just a band aid.

So, you're saying this virus is a hoax????
I'm not an alarmist by any means, but this thing is not a hoax.
Your post sounds like you're the owner of a $750K Freeman and about to belly up and panicking.

Nope not a freeman owner.
I believe the economic damage is worse than the corona 19 and will be more difficult to over come. Wife’s friend is fighting pancreatic cancer and c-19 currently. She will beat c-19 but unfortunately not pancreatic cancer. We lose more annually to the flu strains than this virus. Big media has driven this over reaction, prove me wrong.

No shite Sherlock. Did you not read farther than that in my post????

I do believe you're right on a couple counts. Yes, the economic impact is, and will continue to be huge for a long time to come. You can't just shut down businesses, lay off workers and not expect long term consequences.
Sorry to hear about your wife's friend. Cancer is a horrible disease and I have lost many family members and friends to it over the years. Good luck to her.
As for losses due to flu strains, I'm on your side there too and have said it all along.
And your last point about the media is pretty much spot on too. They've done it with Hurricanes or other major storms with theatrics outside the newsroom making it look like the apocalypse is getting ready to happen and they are treating this no differently. Seems what passes for media today just loves stories like this virus and they all try to outdo each other in the doom and gloom department.

This is a lot of BS they’ve created for a virus that only .05% of the US has tested positive for?
Posted on 3/31/20 at 8:22 am to WilsonPickett
Will kill more businesses than than people, many will never recover unlike da rona patients.

Then what is?

The media/social hype for the virus is the hoax. Yeah, a small percentage of people that get sick will die and that sucks. But is tanking the economy and halting life for the other 99.5% of people worth it?
Are we going to just start doing this every flu season now?

Anyone know if there was any truth to the rumor that the parish was going to shut down the portion of highway 23 to get to the marina? People were throwing fits about it down there last week.
Posted on 3/31/20 at 10:53 am to bullred84
I'm not sure how they could really do that. How can you keep someone who owns a camp in the marina from getting access to it?
Posted on 3/31/20 at 11:02 am to CP3
You can't all these shutdowns are bullshite.
Posted on 3/31/20 at 11:10 am to Janky
That's what I was thinking. Didn't know if they would make some type of exception for the people that own places or rent dock space and just try to turn everyone else away. It's a crazy time in the world right now.
