Vacuum Sealer Recommendations

I usually borrow my dad's but I was looking at getting my own. His is not going through the whole seal cycle and he doesn't want to get it fixed. I have a 50 dollar gift card for academy so I am eyeballing this one: Gamesaver
however, if there is a good deal on an off brand elsewhere I do not mind because the card will get used on fishing or hunting gear.

FoodSaver V2244 LINK
I received that one for Christmas. Used it 2 days ago on some Sac-au-lait. Worked well.

I have the one you linked. It works fine. Sometimes I have to push down on the top to get a good vacuum but other than that for the price it's been great.

Go with foodsaver brand if possible

If you are planning on using it for game where you will be doing a lot at one time DO NOT get a Food Saver 4400. I purchased one about a month ago because it was more expensive then the game savers and I figured it would be better. I used it for the first time a week ago making about 30 lbs. of wild hog sausages. After 5 packages it shut down. Called Food Saver customer service. They said the 4400 is not made to do over 5 packages without having to wait about 15 minutes for it to cool down. I waited 1 hour and still not worked. I sent it back for a replacement.

Got some cabelas cards? The cabelas "commercial" processing equipment is a very good value. It's costs more than $50 but for the occasional user who takes care of his stuff it will last a long time and works well.
Qualification: I worked at a meat processing place for several years. The cabelas stuff has many of the same design features as the decades old true commercial equipment we were using.

I bought a Cabelas vaccum sealer a few years back. Its been great. Check the "bargain bin" occasionally. I think I bought mine for around $80.
Cabelas
This is the model I have and it has done well for household use and fish.

I have 50 bucks worth of cabelas cards as well. hell yeah

I think they're a good bit more than $50 so you'll need to decide if it's really worth the extra money to you or not. probably more like $200
A good rule of thumb with processing equipment is heavier = better. Not to say the light duty shite is bad. If you're only using it occasionally and not doing a bunch at a time they're fine. If you're going to do several deer in the winter and fish every weekend in the summer, you'll want something a little better. The cheap ones don't handle liquid very well.

I have the foodsaver 5380
It has the bag holder and cutter built in, which is nice.

The Foodsaver ones just don’t last. If I was to buy one tomorrow it’d probably be the 15” cabelas commercial one, it’s actually on sale right now for $292. I know a guy that bought one of their commercial grade ones years ago and it’s still kicking just fine.

makes sense. I've only killed three deer this year but last year I hunted multiple states and killed 9. I also caught a ton of bass and bream. I used the shite out of the food saver. My dad and I usually catch a couple thousand bream every spring so yeah, I may need the commercial model

I got a refurbished V2244 years ago for $50, only problem I've had was a set of seals tearing up due some sticky residue getting left on them. New set was $10. Like anything they have their limits but mine has worked very well for my purposes. I buy the commercial rolls of sealing bags on Amazon so I can make large bags and only run the machine once or twice to package a large amount of food. I've also sealed up pieces of silver and reloading tooling for long term storage.

This one looks to be the same one as you linked but from walmart and different color. $30 cheaper. I have two of these. One at Camp and one at home. Never had an issue. Had 3 yrs at least.
