I shoot a meopta haven't had any problems. It a European scope with a 30mm tube . Also has a lifetime warranty for around 850

I'd barely wanna spend that much for the scope and gun

The $159 Leupold has a lifetime warranty also.

Get it accursed at Hill Country Rifles
I'm shooting .227 inch groups at 100 yards since they worked on my Browning X-Bolt

I've seen the screw that goes in the forearm to attach the sling screw in too far and put pressure on the barrel, and that will cause erratic grouping. Also check that the scope mounts aren't touching where the tube starts to get bigger towards the objective lens.
If the problem is your scope, when buying a new one you get what you pay for. I only have experience with Burris, leopold, and Ziess. I've never had any problems with them. All still as clear as the day I bought them and stay on zero from year to year.

Go with the new Redfield. Leupold makes them has the same warranty as is virtually the same scope as rifleman for a cheaper price

lsuhat,
'Ya, I suspect you're looking at a bad scope, but a few other things I'd consider first:
1. How accurate was the gun to begin w/?
2. Have you changed loads? Not common for accuracy to deteriorate so much by changing loads, but I have seen it happen.
3. Damaged crown is a consideration, but you'd probably notice that bad of a crown.
4.Check all the screws for the base and the rings. A loose screw can cause sudden, severe deterioration.
5. What kind of base/rings are you using? I now only use a Weaver base and Burris Signature rings (Weaver type). Since I've started using the Signature rings (the ones w/ the plastic insert) I no longer lap the rings. The "turn in" type of rings can be difficult to get perfectly lined up; if not perfectly line up, there can be stress on the scope.
6. It's a good idea to make sure it's not a stock problem, e.g. loose/overly tight stock to action screws, spot on stock putting undue pressure on the barrel/action, swing swivel stud putting pressure on stock, etc.
Good luck. It's bummer having a major gun problem like this in the middle of hunting season.

I have narrowed it down to either the Nikon ProStaff 3x9x50 or the Redfield Revolution 3x9x50
Someone please talk me into buying either or

3x9x50 is a good choice. I'd probably go with the Redfield just because I've heard good things about cheap Redfield scopes moreso than cheap Nikon scopes. Though my dad did buy a Nikon Buckmaster last year when he got his new rifle and I really like it.

I have an old redfield piece of shite on my rifle. It looks like a pellet gun scope.
The thing is badass. I've been wanting to replace it for five years but everytime I look through it, it is mOney. Go with whatever you feel comfortable with.

I tek I read here that leopold was making the redfield scopes now, if that's the case I'd go redfield.

I am a Zeiss/Leupold man but put the new Redfield on my varmint rig (.22 Hornet). I have been very pleased with it and like others have said it is now manufactured by the good folks at Leupold.
