I don’t think the killed chicken will work on a mink. They like to drink the blood of a fresh kill. It will work on a coon. I just recently ended a war with coons, and they would return over and over till I either got him or the entire chicken was consumed. The war only ended because I finished coon-proofing the barn. Mink-proofing would be much more difficult, but it can be done. I did lose a lot of chickens to a mink at our other place, until I got them all moved here. Amazing how they can exploit the slightest mistake you make or overlook.

May have to put some tuna in the trap then...

Order some and keep them for next time. Good for controlling squirrels too, same setup just use corn for the bait

I chased him from my coop about 8pm lastnight, ran across my limestone driveway in just my draws and a shotgun

Keep us updated, whether it be failure or success. The OB is intrigued. Put some excitement in the board.

Naw, by the time I rounded the corner, he jumped in a row of bamboo on the property line before I could pull up for a shot. Big mud slick from the rain on that corner too and didnt want to bust my arse.
Next house is about 200ft away, didnt want to take a bad shot towards them.
Trap is set and put a fresh 10” bass out of the pond in it. Wrapped the entire edge of the coop with tin sheets....one way in....one way out. Now we pop nattys and wait
Eta: I took some pics but im retarded on posting them. if we catch, Ill try to post up a pic in the morning

I’d freak out if I saw a mink run across my yard. Lol.

Powpow used to always say that if mink weighed 10 pounds it wouldn't be safe to live here.
My old man paid for his college and mom’s wedding ring trapping back in the hay days of good prices. He’s caught everything there is to catch. He once said something similar about minks. Something like “I’d rather be in a dog pen with 3 bobcats than in a house with one mad mink.”

I hid in the bamboo for shits and giggles with a tall drank and my 12ga. low and behold he pops out going straight to the trap. I jump up and bust one right behind him, he cuts a flip in the air and runs back into the bamboo, shell jams on ejection before I could get a 2nd shot off....the hunt continues...
