Looking to plan a tuna fishing trip with some buddies to Venice. Any recommendations on guides/best time to go?

Best time? The next 30 or so days for the best shot at big fish.

Guides? I’d recommend any one of our customers:
- Southern Catch
- Voodoo
- Mexican Gulf
- Intensity Offshore.

This ^^ you wouldn’t survive as a charter captain out of Venice if you weren’t really good at offshore fishing

Had a very bad experience and shitty trip with Eddie Burger for our trip.

I would not recommend him.

details? The only ever bad "review" I've ever seen online of Eddie was from a Louisiana guy

^^^^^This, details please. I've been fishing with Eddie for 20 years now and have rarely heard a single complaint about him. I've got him booked for the 9th and 10th next month and he was pretty much booked solid for the month of March. Brendan did have plenty of days open at that time and I wouldn't hesitate to fish with him as well. I've not heard many complaints about Eddie, I mean he may be lacking a bit in an outgoing personality and personal hygiene, but he is a fish killing machine!

Guy was an arse hole and we didn’t catch anything the entire trip. He hollered at us several times. He deserved to be punched in the mouth. He acted like he didn’t want to be out there. Had a bad attitude the entire time but he cheered up when we were almost back to the dock at the very end of the long fish-less trip. He then looks at our group and says “so where are yall from?” First personal question in the entire day. Now he wants to be friendly when it is tip time.

You must be one of those people that is just miserable and always tries to complain lol. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone complain about him lol.

Having fished with Eddie many times over many years this does not sound believable.

To the OP, I highly recommend Eddie. He will work hard to put y'all on the fish, and he's an extremely nice guy.

Pittman is another really good captain down there.

Does he still do offshore? I know he's got his own fly fishing service now.

Brendan is running the old Contender now. He's mated for us with Eddie numerous times. He is a solid fisherman that I wouldn't hesitate to fish with. He killed a stud Bigeye a couple weekends back.
