Wouldn't buy the ford over the tundra...toyotas are notorious for getting shitty gas mileage though...

I have a 2010 f-150 so I may be a little biased. It's a really nice truck, but it's still got the 5.4. With the newer trucks I would get the 5.0, because it's the best power/gas mileage ratio.

What does this even mean?

Exact phrase out of a ford technicians mouth.

Basically means that the impeller? Inside the turbo spins so fast it runs itself off of its mounts and effs the whole turbo up. Trucks as powerful as a Nissan sentra when this happens.

I've always been a die hard Ford guy but the new Tundra is definitely a sweet truck. My boss has one and the interior is sweet...and huge. He has around 100k on his and I don't believe he's had any issues with it. Another guy at work had one that's fully loaded with the orange-ish leather etc...he ended up trading it in because he was tired of putting it in the shop for drivetrain issues.

That being said...I would still roll with the F-150 and I believe if I were to buy one today, it would be with the 5.0 V8. You're not going to win a lot of drag races but with the 6speed transmission you will have plenty of power to pull anything that is designed to be behind a half-ton truck.

a turbocharger consists of two housings bolted together with a central ceramic bearing in the middle. An exhaust driven impeller on one side and a forced air impeller on the other. Pretty simple design and I've never heard of one "overspooling" itself or "coming off of a mount"

Now I could see a problem with a wastegate malfunction or blowoff valve not venting turbo pressure on engine deceleration.

I'm sure the technician was explaining it to me in dumbass terms. Some of this new shits like talking with an Arab doctor, you might not can quite understand them but you just go with it anyway.

Love my F-150 Ecoboost, in town mileage has been an average of 18-19, will be putting it on the road next month expecting around 22 and like meauxjeaux2 said it has a shite load of get up and go and pulling power. BTW I got a 7yr 100k warranty.

I'll probably be in the market for a new truck towards the end of the year. I have exclusively been a GM truck owner in the past with 0 complaints That being said, when do the new GM trucks come out? 2014?

I am in the same boat. I have an '06 in the driveway but I am not buying another one a year before the body style changes again.

All of these trucks are overpriced IMO

Thats what im thinking too. I also hear a lot of people say never buy a first year redesigned vehicle bc of potential problems with new engines, trans, etc.

On the other hand that 5.3 liter is bulletproof. It doesn't do 0-60 in 5 seconds but it'll handle any task i could possible throw at it.

no doubt about it

I was in the same boat as you about a year ago. Went with the Tundra. What really influenced me was the aftermath of bad wrecks. The Tundra is a tank, and this is a family hauler for me. Better ride quality and turning radius sealed it for me.

ETA: I have kept up with the mileage of this Tundra using the Mileage App since day one. I'm trying to export the data to a google doc to post. I'm at almost 15k miles now. Granted fuel economy was at the bottom of my buying decision list.

Pulled my boat with Michaelb1100's new Ecoboost F150. Had to pull off the side of the interstate by Walker to check something in the boat and when I got back in the drivers seat to merge nobody would let me back on the interstate. Finally said frick it and floored it to merge. fricking thing is a beast son! Smoked the tires all the way up to about 30 mph and got up to 70 mph in no time

Aside from hammering down to get on the road, what kind of mileage were you getting towing with that eco boost and what kind of boat were you towing?

Looking at the trucks trip computer,at 70 mph pulling a 18' Kenner center console with an over full tank of gas in the boat BTW ,I remember it being in the 15 MPG range.
