I have a f150 and park in my garage. Get it with a backup camera. You can set it so the camera stays up when you go into drive up to a few MPH. The new cameras have a great downward view. I have a J drive so I pull in, reverse so I can get into the garage, and can pull in and look at my camera. The garage door made a darker line on the concrete so I can see in my camera where to pull up to. If I get my bumper to just past the line on the ground I’m maybe a inch from the door hitting when it closes. I can also use this line to make sure I’m in straight. No silly tennis ball in my way.

I also have the 18 EB. Coming from a roush supercharged 5.0 before. I am impressed with the power it has. Also the gas millage. Sure the 5.0 before drank gas (10-11mpg) but even before best I got was around 18mpg. I just drove from lafy to gulf shores with 4 adults and a bed loaded to the gills and got 20.5mpg. Most of the open interstate was cruse set at 79. Older EB were time bombs. New ones supposed to be corrected. Time will tell.

Now back to my rum drink

You could also screw some plywood to the wall and just bump it every time you pull in

Yeah, but for the price I can get the full sized right now with deals I'm seeing. Also, the mileage really isn't any better. At least not enough to sway me. So the only factor is garage space. And I'm not buying a vehicle purely based on that when we plan to move in the next 2 years and my wife could always just suck it up and switch places.

I was actually shopping the GMC canyon hard (Tacoma just doesn't get enough fuel mileage to justify the smaller truck). But the prices were stupid to me. I took a peak at the eco boost and ran the numbers and can't see a reason not to besides parking.

glue a pool noodle cut in half to the front wall and just pull in until you hit it.

I have a similar issue. My Jeep isn’t long but I have some stuff stored that makes it a tight fit. I’ve got a little rolling cart that I store my hard top on during the summer. Right now it has a crib and other baby stuff on it. I just pull in until my bumper hits the pole handle on the cart and that leaves enough space for the garage door to shut. I learned the hard way a few years ago what a garage door coming down on the spare tire will do to the door.

Me too. F-150 with Supercrew cab and 5.5' bed. Got enough space to walk around both the front and back comfortably. But my garage is 24.5' deep

Yeah I don’t recall but mine is 24-25ish I think. 10’ wide doors too help. I keep the back as close to garage door tho so I have a bunch in front.

I’m not going to try and steer you either way, but I have a Chevy 4x4 5.3 and have no issue hitting 22. 23 if I drive the speed limit. Just to give you another option.

Mine is in the garage now. It’s easier to get it perfect if you back in.

I know they are not popular around here but the Ridgeline will give you the fuel economy you want. Will be 12"+ shorter than the full size. Will have a passenger compartment closer to full size dimensions seating 5 adults in the back comfortably. Will have a 3/4 ton payload. Of all trucks on the market today it had the highest % of domestic content and the most "Made in the USA" if that means anything to you. If you can live with the 5k tow rating it is a very good alternative placed right in between the full and mid sized trucks.

Average? Or just what you get on an exclusive hwy trip? When I look at fuelly.com i see the 2.7 ecoboost at like 20.5 average. I think my driving is more interstate so hope to get a little more. I see pretty much any chevy engine at 17 or below (unless Im missing something) and that is my experience from previous ownership. I expect a little better, but 19 at most.

Should make a purchase this morning. Made my stops around Houston and tired of shopping. Think I found my price. My wife's side is just over 23' so I'll be good there at the very least. She is easing up on the changing sides idea. But I also know it's one of those things that she'll keep in her back pocket for next time she's pissed at me.

Just drove from Orange Beach to Lafayette yesterday and reset the trip meter when I filled up in OB. 22.6 when I got to Lafayette. We did stop and eat/ride around in Biloxi.

Even the Rams can hit 20+ on the highway. The Ecoboost probably isn’t a bad motor, but the fuel economy isn’t particularly impressive.

I just bought a 2018 Sierra 4X4 5.3 and the gas mileage is amazing. I am averaging 20mpg combined and 23.5 on the highway. The cylinder deactivation feature and new active air dam makes a huge difference. The problem is that I slapped a ranch hand on it and now my highway mpg went down 1.5mpg. The new body style Sierra and Silverado are coming out in 2019 and the mark downs on 2018s are outrageous. My truck MSRP is 53.5 and I bought it for 39.5 out the door before tax

Hang a tennis ball from a string in a spot that your windshield or bumper will hit it when you are in the right spot.

1451-1586lbs payload
One Ton is 2000lbs

That math isn't difficult. I'm sure there are others out there that can help you with it.

Say what? I know for sure that bitch would be sitting on the framerails if you put a pallet of wet St. Aug in it. What about a cord of red oak? I've done both with room to spare before the bumpstops. No fricking way a Ridgeline could. The tires couldn't even support that weight.

IIRC, the F150 has the highest percentage of USA, followed by the Tundra

Eta: Ahhh, I see you meant to say that it will "hold 3/4 of a ton payload". When you said it will have a 3/4 ton payload, everyone thinks you mean that it'll hold as much as a 3/4 ton truck

Well, it fits quite nicely backing unto wifes side. As if our concrete ledge was made for it. When tires bump, perfect walk around room behind and clearance for doir plus some. Dont even know if I'll try the other side.

30k on the nose before tt&l. Trucks are still to expensive, but can't complain too much.
