Truck Issues - Need some OB Advice

Morning OB peeps:
2010 Nissan Titan - 148k miles - never had one engine issue
Yesterday, engine service light popped on. Drove to Walgreens grabbed a few things, no issues. Went to pickup dinner, and put vehicle in park. Put it back in drive and had no acceleration. I could put peddle to floor and had nothing. Stopped, put back into park and then drive, same issue. Idled a few miles to a parking lot. Turned off vehicle and made a couple calls. Turned it back on, put back in drive, and had acceleration again, and made it back home.
My thoughts are a fuel pump or fuel filter issue. Could I have gotten bad gas? Should I try one of those fuel additives?
Thoughts? TIA

Why not have a mechanic scan it to see what code it’s throwing. Seems like a better bet than asking an online forum and guessing on fuel additives.

AutoZone can at least tell you the engine light code. It SOUNDS like a gas issue but with as many computer parts nowadays, there's really no telling.

I will try to do that, figured I would try this first and see some opinions beforehand.

Most likely fuel pump or could be a catalytic converter issue.

Not right now, sign on doors saying da rona so they won’t read them.

Sounds like vapor lock in the fuel system, but on that model, it could be a thousand things. Do diagnostics on the truck, but also change fuel and air filters and change fuel cap. Diagnostics will not detect vapor lock, I don't believe. Also could be throttle position sensor going out.
If it happens again, mess with the cruise control a bit. I had a Volvo semi tractor once, that would do some weird stuff like that, and if I turned off the cruise control the throttle would go back to normal.

BlueDriver Scan Tool
Buy this now. $99 and you can diagnose most of your car's, your family's cars, your friend's cars issues. The report that it spits out, gives you the mostly likely fixes, links to buy parts. It is a no brainer. The first sensor you change for $12 that will save you $400 will pay for it. It's only $99.
Totally worth it.
ETA- It'll also let you monitor systems in your car while it's running. Guys that tow with diesels can use it to make sure the exhaust gas temp is cool enough to shut down without shock cooling their turbos.

So the accelerator acts like its not hooked up at all? Could it be a throttle position sensor? Not sure about the Nissans.

Start obvious and go from there.
Check air box for rat nest. It's that time of year.
Buy a code scanner and torque pro.
Start truck, have someone rev it while you're listening under the hood. If you hear BBs in a tin can, your upper cats are failing. Delete them and only run the secondaries.
For that drive train to be acting up at only 150k, the mileage per year makes me consider the above mentioned fuel filter.
The crank position sensor, knock sensor and tps can all make them do what you described.

It's always this sensor or that sensor blah blah blah
Take your negative battery cable off for 2-3 minutes and re attach, it will reset the computer and may fix your issue.

Took it to O’Reily’s for a test. Errors returned a throttle/accelerator sensor issue.
I erased the computer at O’Reilys and cleared the SES light. Didn’t make it 10 feet out the parking lot before the accelerator issue happened and SES light popped back on.

Did they give you the code number?
Posted on 1/24/21 at 9:22 am to bubbz
Did you try turning off the cruise when it happened?
Posted on 1/24/21 at 9:25 am to slacker130
Codes:
2122
2127
0222 - this code triggered 4 times during test - cpu read accelerator pedal position sensor 2 - throttle/pedal position sensor/switch B - throttle position sensor 1/circuit B1
0123
Nothing really happened with cruise - working normally

The throttle and cruise are linked together, as I said above it can affect the pedal. I've had it happen before. Different vehicle, but a similar system. Still, it sounds like you have a bad throttle pos sensor, as I also said it might be.

Right on, I hope it’s just a “sensor” and not something bigger.

On that tractor, I never did fix anything. I would just click the cruise off and back on, and the problem would go away. I put another 100,000 miles on it like that.

I'd be off to google those codes. More than likely, it's something you could fix with a trip to the autoparts store, a metric socket set, and youtube or forums.

Thanks for the help!
