I have not disputed, at any point, that a Luger is a better round but that was not the topic at hand.

It's part of my topic.

Fine dipshit, get the biggest pos gun you can find, when it jams on you it will be no sweat off our balls.

Or you could invest in a truck gun safe. At the low end you can get one for about 140.

I agree. Not everyone can afford a Kimber so there is nothing wrong with asking for an affordable reliable pistol. Some people also HAVE to leave their weapon in the car all day so carrying IS NOT an option.

How on earth did I know that this thread would eventually get at least a little sidetracked with "the great (caliber) debate"

How's this: all handgun rounds are poor 'manstoppers'...some are less shitty than others, but they all suck to some degree.

So OP: have you made a decision / purchase yet?

Double Tap 45 Derringer

What am I missing here???? The OP says he doesn't want to spend a lot of money, but now he's sold on another shitty Derringer that cost $450?

My XD40 cost 425 brand new.

Sure, get a double tap. You are SEVERELY missing out on better options for your truck.

You can choose to follow the advice given here, or you can bitch about not hearing the answer you wanted to hear.

Because a cheap gun is better than no gun.
maybe not.

The only thing you're gonna hit with a derringer is:

someone actually in your truck

or

someone in the neighborhood behind who you're shooting at.

IT IS HARD AS shite TO HIT SOMEBODY WITH A HANDGUN. Any handgun. Don't make it harder by having a crappy no-barrel derringer. Seriously, you'd be better off with a fixed blade knife.

A knife is better than a derringer???

Seriously???

I bet I can hit somebody from 5 feet away with a derringer way better than I can with any knife.

Yep.

And under extreme stress, we'll all suck to some degree.

So, knowing that my limited handgun skills will deteriorate even more under stress, and knowing that all typical CCW handguns are relatively puny (compared to the typical long gun), I don't care to handicap myself even further by carrying a mouse gun chambered for a "smaller than service caliber" cartridge.

Now, since I'm always 100% correct, and everyone who disagrees with me is 99.8769% wrong, this thread can end.

I ain't paying $450 for a two shot. Plenty of options for that. For $100 maybe.

I bet I can close 5 feet with a knife immediately. That is 1 step. Go find the knife video about how shitty is gun in a holster is against someone with a knife. That's before you can even cock a stupid derringer. Just say no to derringers.

Derringers are guns to show people how cool you are because they fit in your boot or some dumb shite. My dumbass brother in law has one.

Guns do not stay in my truck at night, therefore they cannot be stolen out of my truck at night.
