My SO son's dog loves to ride anything. He will actually lay between his feet on the zero turn while he cuts the grass. You can't even sit in the side x side without him hopping in and a lot of times he will sleep in the back seat. Chocolate Lab.

All of the dogs I have had loved to ride. My daughter has an Aussie mix that used to love to ride, but when Covid hit, they sold everything and spent a year traveling the country, working via the internet and staying at Air B&Bs. By the time they ended their odyssey, the poor dog didn't ever want to go for another ride. They have to put her in the car and she pants heavily the whole time, even on just a short trip. Too much of a good thing, I guess.

I've got a male German Shep/lab mix, I've had since a pup that hates to ride in the truck and whines like a little girl the whole time.

Maybe he thinks you drive like shite

All of my labs past and present love to ride in the bed and in my boat. I had a black female that I could get her to get in anything I pointed and said kennel. She was an amazing dog at home and in the field. There will never be another Alex.

Did he ride with you a lot as a pup? Were most of his rides to the vet or something he considered unpleasant?

My last dog was an incredible dog in every way (hunting, obedience, never barked, etc) except she hated riding in the truck. It was a little better when I made a perfectly flat spot for her in the back but she still was never comfortable.

She climbed in for the first time the other day. Was a whole lot more comfortable once I rolled the windows down. Made 13 weeks today and curled up to take a nap. Think she’ll enjoy it.

Everywhere we ever went was unpleasant for him if it involved a vehicle.

This made me laugh.

Could be worse. I had a lab that loved to ride in the boat or bed of the truck. The only problem was she got so excited she would shite. She wouldn't hold it.

Funny at first, but try riding to the duck blind before daylight with a hangover and she drops a deuce on the front deck with the smell hitting you right in the face.

One of the best labs I ever hunted over had the same problem...it would drop a load in the blind first thing every trip...nothing like the smell of lab shite just before shooting time. I guess she was lightening the load for the work ahead. The dude who owned he would let her run around for 30-40 minutes before loading up in the boat and she would take a dump then but always had some left in the tank for the blind. She was as good a retriever as I ever saw but it wasn't pleasant for certain...mine likes to break wind...takes great joy in it like a 13 year old boy stuck in school...it is unpleasant but the air is usually cleared within a few minutes.

Mine also. Goes just about everywhere I go...I don't take her in stores like you see folks doing but if I am only going to be out of the truck for a short period she is with me. Sits in the passenger seat. Gets extremely hurt when the wife is going and she is relagated to the back seat. She will try to force the issue but the wife ain't having it. If they are in the truck together long enough the lab will try to share the passenger seat with her LOL>
