I have an older model yanmar ym1510. it stays at the camp and is only used for cutting lanes this time of the year. this year it cranked right up as usual (all fluids, oil, belts etc were checked). it runs, engages and cuts fine... for about 40 minutes, then all of the sudden the running hot/temp light comes on. i immediately turn it off. i wait 15/20 minutes (which in all actually really ain't bad as with this heat allows time for hydration/water break/beer break etc, but is aggravating!) and then it cranks right back up, runs, engages, cuts fine... for another 40 minutes or so, then same thing... any ideas from the OB?

Possibly in need of a new thermostat. That's the first thing I would do (after verifying that the radiator isn'r full of mud).

Actually have the same tractor. Clean the screen and radiator with the water hose. If that doesn’t work, get your radiator cleaned out or replace it. Had the same issue until I had my radiator cleaned out.

would blow out the radiator with air compressor 1st before using water to wash out debris. Then use air again after water wash.

First would be to clean the outer coils of radiator. Then it may need a radiator flush or a new thermostat.

Like stated take a blower if needed to the radiator screen and blow debris out. I often prop my hood up with a beer can or stick to get more air flow in engine compartment. Also blow out your air filter.

Me too, not cheap, but work well if you can access radiator from the side. Great for blowing out filters also.

I was having issues with my JD where after it about 2 hours it alert me shut off engine. Checked everything. Turned out to be breathable gas cap was clogged and stopping the fuel from flowing. Hopefully yours is a simple fix.

Likely the issue. Really solid tractor. At its age and the fact it sits at the camp I'd go ahead and probably change it out and keep it running to not risk warping anything.

May get away with just a flush but I don't like taking chances in the woods where airflow is limited anyway.
