Don’t know about the beach, but they were running real well Off the wharfs behind the island

usually good for the entire month as long as temps remain, but watch out for sting rays. They out.

this was the worst year I've had crabbing on beach in late July/early august. Heard they ran the beach early this year....something about late full moon in June triggered the run. Not sure about that but I know this was the first year in 6 years I didn't dominate crabbing on the beach.

I went two weeks ago on the front side of the island. Caught 6 crabs. Pathetic.
So I guess the season is over now ?

Bedhog it’s nice if you have traps for sure. We caught a good bit of stone crabs in the cages.

set 3 traps out Friday, my stakes didn't hold and we found the traps about 100 yards away up on the beach. Still came away with 15 good size crabs. Set them out overnight and ran them a couple times on Saturday. We didn't have any fish to use for bait so we just used cheap chicken. We finished with about 4 1/2 dozen full crabs. Definitely not the best of crabbing trips but it was enough for a small boil.
