Man you are too scientific.
Who is there to give weight and validity to these studies you are linking? To think that deer would not use the benefit of the full moon's light to eat and move when hunting pressure in an area is prevelant is what's foolish.
I'll take pappy's word over some college professor jerk off's study of pen raised deer any day of the week.

I have killed several early on full moon nights and I have killed a few late in the morning and all through out the day. It's one of those times you better sit all day especially pre-rut and the rut.
To me the pre-rut is pretty good on a full moon because they will stay on their feet all day.

I'm too numbers and facts based, admittedly. I hate anecdotal evidence because it rarely holds true on a larger basis. If your deer on your lease operate a certain way based on moon phase, by all means take advantage of that. I just don't think on a large scale that would hold true.
And maybe people see more deer "feeding" during a full moon night because they can actually see them feeding. During a new moon you can't see very far into a field at night...

To back up pappys word just go out riding around on a full moon night and see all the critters stirring. Deer and otherwise. Theys everwhere, theys everywhere.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no correlation between lack of deer movement and the full moon. Activity increases during the middle of the day and earlier in the afternoon than would otherwise be expected.

ETA: Also, the deer move LESS at night during a full moon, not more. The idea that they feed all night and bed up all day due to the full moon is a misconception.
Back in the good ole days when I fire hunted
we def saw more deer on bright moon lit nights.
I ride the woods an average of 4 nights a week with a light(legal here) and see a ton more on bright nights here in NE FL.
But, when I lived in middle Ga it didnt seem to matter as much actually saw more around new moon at night.

That's exactly it. There are not a lot of deer at my place so old rules of thumb hold true because we aint seeing shite anyway. Although, I have buddies that have so many deer you can't help but see them at all hours.

With work, wife and kids - I hunt when i can regaurdless of weather or moon. I typical hunt from day light till noonish, grab a bite then back in before 2. During the full moon, most of the activity is between 9 and noon, then again between 3 and 5.
I know this because i keep logs of all my hunts.

Reasons to get off stand:
1. Watch football
2. Eat
3. Charge cell phone

i hunt afternoons. figure they have been feeding all night on the moon, so no use going in the a.m.
have heard noon, when moon is underfoot, is a good time, but can't make myself go.

The only way to predict deer movement at your spot. Everything else is just noise.

This.
On the front side of a full moon late afternoon is your best bet, other than midday.
On the waning (back) side of a full moon first thing in the morning is the ticket. After first hour go get some breakfast and head back in around 11a.m. for the midday spurt.

About 1:00 am, if it's clear, you don't even need a light.
