why da frick would anybody,(unless they had a hard dick for wranglers and living in La for 10+ years this seemed to be the norm), buy a wrangler or ugly arse foreign POS when they can get a Jeep GC?
imo, it is the best new vehicle on the road.. especially with the 8speed trany

Yea anybody that haven't got one needs one IMO. Still love our jeep but since we got our new ride our jeep won't get drove so it's for sale. May not be for an everyday ride but could be but anybody that wants a pussy wagon or just a sweet ride that's what you need

just me, but i'd never have a vehicle with kids that the doors are popped off..
i am not questioning your parenting, this is just my personal opinion
but still, for the money.. the GC is twice the vehicle the wrangler is..
not that don't like them, i'm in the market for a '82 CJ8 scrambler

Ms. Nimble has a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Edition.
The vehicle is 2WD with the V8 Hemi. It gets around 22-23 mpg on the highway (Beltway 8 in Houston). Test drives included 4-runners, Lexus, and Pilots. We liked the Jeep the best out of those.
It rides better than the 4-Runner and is quieter. It has more power than any of the above as well. We have a friend that bought a Pilot, and it is a nice vehicle but I don't like the seats.
We have had zero issues with the vehicle. The cooled leather seats are nice in Houston. B.R. weather and heat is just as bad so the seats will be nice there also.
If you are getting one, negotiate in the roof racks and the cargo pad for the back.

If you are 10/99ed, then you can make money driving the diesels...

I have an '02 Grand Cherokee that is pushing 270k miles that I use for work. I love the damn thing. Everything works/runs great.

Really? It should also be "against the law" for people to post in advice threads when they don't own the: gun, boat, car, truck, JEEP someone is asking about. So far I am the only "Jeep Grand Cherokee" owner in this thread to offer an opinion about one.
On 4WD:
There is also NO advantage in owning a 4wd in Houston, TX. My boat is too big to trailer, so it stays in the Marina. And magically, TX manages to maintain its roadways better than the 3rd world highway system Louisiana is famous for. So, 2wd makes sense FOR ME.
Just my opinion...

I'm getting one sometime. Have always wanted one for a "fun" vehicle. My brother has had three. I've just always been more practical.

I have a 2011 FJ the resale is stupid high, so you can always unload it if you have to. Mine has the locking diff and the A trac it will go anywhere depending on tires and clearance of course. I love mine and will probably get a second one while i can

If you are thinking of a Wrangler, they are fine, but the terrible gas mileage and mediocre ride quality aren't rally good for a DD.
On the plus side, they have excellent resale value. In most cases, it's better to buy them brand new.
I wouldn't buy any of the other Jeep offerings from Chrysler.
The FJ is an excellent compromise. IIRC, you travel a good bit for work. Better get something that rides decent and gets good MPG.

I have an '06 with almost 150K that's given almost no problems. I just started having some A/C problems, but that's the first thing to go wrong except replacing the water pump about a year ago. Great car- highly recommend.
