What did they say about your drive? I rented a Compass for Sunday, trolling with a paddle sucks. Probably going to PAC on the Saturday then doing the tournament on Sunday. It's on my possible "upgrade" list so I'm looking forward to spending some time in it.

Mrs. Lisa at PAC had a brand new Compass come in while we were there Saturday. REALLY nice, wide seat, wide beam, sleaker than the Outback and almost as stable as the Pro Angler. They hadnt gotten it wet yet and were cutting a bigger hatch. She said Jackson Kayaks will be at PAC all this week testing out Kayaks, they have 2 new models coming out.

Drop it of yesterday Mark had stated that they have never worked the Helix drive yet but after a lil playing around with it he thinks it's a spun bearing or stripped gear
If they cant have it fix before Sat they said i can pick one of their demo boats for the tourney Sun so another reason to buy from P&P

I did see that new Hobie compass
thats a nice looking rig, looks like it would just hual arse on the water
Not sure if i would be able to stand in it doe

It fits most of my criteria for upgrading, pedal drive, no added BS to get charged extra for(Jackson I'm looking at you), very open layout, I have no use for in-hull storage, big arse tankwell for my crate and fish bag, I never would put the seat up high in my Cuda or Slayer, so the one position seat doesn't bother me, supposed to be moderately light, when I picked it up in the store with all the stuff in it it felt about the same weight as my Slayer 14.5. I still want to demo a Cruise FD and Slayer Propel but I think it'll come down to those 3......or a Gheenoe. I'm still eyeballing those things.

Don't you have to adjust something for reverse still?

The Compass has the old style, forward-only drive, I'll figure out this weekend if that's a deal breaker or not. It's the closest layout to what I want though.

The layout is awesome.

Se if you can fit a Native drive in it

If Jackson would widen and lengthen the area behind the seat on the FD it would be my next kayak.

Agreed, the Cruise FD is on my list but I'd likely have to just put my fish bag in the back, eliminate my milk crate, sort out something to carry rods(up to 4) and reduce my tackle that I bring with me and figure out a way to store it.

Jackson seems to think all of their kayaks need hull storage and hatches. None of them really seem to be setup for tournament fishing.

That's why I eliminated Jackson early on.
