Checked out some new water today. An old oxbow off the Pearl. Only fished 10-1 but found 2 nice fish, a cpl dinks, and I had a spotted gar scare the piss out of me. He hit my chatterbait when when was just reeling in on top next to the boat. I had maybe a foot of line out when he exploded on it.

Thanks. It’s a lake nobody really fishes and folks say isn’t good anymore so catching 2 over 3.5 first time out was encouraging. On the ti5, just plugged in it from the factory and whatever is installed I’ve been running.

Anyway hit west cove marsh yesterday, wind was a bitch and water was dirty in most of the spots but was able to scratch up a decent box for the conditions
But never seen that many boat at the launch

Can you guys tell this freshie how to predict the tide at West Cove? Is there a certain spot to look up then add or subtract time? Last time Mung and I went, we were way off.

I'm interested in this too. Hit West Cove last Saturday thinking the tide should've been coming in when we got there but it was still dropping. Seemed to be a few hours off from the Calcasieu pass gauge.

Yeah some days it’s really hard to predict I also use Calcasieu pass buoy, but I really think it has to do with the height of the incoming or outgoing tides,
if more than a foot I find it gets to West Cove marsh area in about an hour an half
anything less add an hour
I’ve given up on predicting outgoing in that area,
unless ya fishing around Hackberry use that buoy

Awesome info, thanks! Had a feeling I was off in my math and that proves I was right. I was doing the pass plus an hour, thought I'd read that somewhere but couldn't remember right.
I'd imagine that north wind didnt help either.

This may be frowned upon, but I have a Vibe Sea Ghost 130 I’m looking to sell if anyone is interested.

I was at WC Saturday also. High tide was supposed to be around 11:00 am at the Pass. So we figured around Noon would be High Tide. When we left around 2:00 it looked like the water was still coming in. I quit trying to predict it.

Y'all just don't pay attention.

The best thing to do is look at the USGS buoys at Midlake or Calcasieu Pass. Use the closest to your location. When you are on the way check and see what the tide did the day before. If all of the weather conditions are the same as the day before (mainly wind) then you can use that info to try and usually get a good idea of what it is going to do. West cove is usually an hour and a half past the pass. Black Lake is usually 2 hours behind mid-lake. Joe's is usually pretty close to mid-lake. Maybe a half hour behind.

Well, why was high tide 3 hours after the Pass' projected time?
